Chronicle 012
Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We have finally reached the end of week 12 and what a term it has been! We have definitely never had a time like this before and we are all due a well earned break.
This week we were able to farewell our previous Principal Christine Wilson and show her our appreciation for her 18 years of service to Freyberg. Thank you to all of our amazing students who contributed to her goodbye video and to those parents who attended our assembly.

If you haven't already, please remember to have your say on our Annual Health Questionnaire below. It is important to us that our school goals and values are in line with community expectations. Please note that the ideas around Alert Level 2 procedures in the survey are a suggestion at this point based on feedback we have received, and we felt that it was only fair to present them to the community for consultation. We have already had some great feedback  around these ideas and look forward to hearing more.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone - you deserve it!

Noho ora mai - Stay safe,
Maria Dopheide

Just a reminder that Tiroroa Ave is a LOOP Road - this means that if you are dropping your children at the Tiroroa gate you DO NOT need to turn around in a driveway. We have noticed a lot of parents from the school and preschool doing this recently and it is very dangerous for our children walking on the footpaths. Please use the loop!!

Friday 7th August - 8.30 a.m - Noon

All classes and all children (including children from the Freyberg Preschool and Arohanui classes) have contributed to this art show.

Don't miss this opportunity to come and view your children's fantastic art and celebrate the incredible talent we have here at Freyberg!
School Uniform

With winter now upon us we would like to remind all students that it's more than ok to wear a plain black beanie for added warmth while here at school.  We do appreciate however that students do not wear beanies that are monogramed or of any other colour other plain black.  Plain black complements our uniform and does not distract from the overall appearance.  Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Missing - Prior to Lockdown
2 x near new polar fleece jackets clearly named  Lateisha Parata and Patress Ulugia.

Over the holiday break we are asking all parents to check their children's uniforms to ensure that your child has their correct jacket. We are more than happy to assist with renaming any items with our black permanent markers if needed.   Any uniform items  taken home in error can be returned to the school office when we return next term.

Freyberg School has been lucky to have been one of the few schools selected to receive ‘The Easy Choice Family Kai Booklets’ Winter Cookbook. It’s packed full of recipes and will be a great resource when whānau’s are planning their weekly groceries shopping. The books are limited and are available from the office to all students on a first come first serve basis.
As part of the distribution and in line with the upcoming school holidays Sport Waitākere are holding a SCHOOL HOLIDAY CHALLENGE.

Below is more information detailing the requirements to enter the draw. Healthy eating and an opportunity to support kids to play sport is an awesome way to celebrate our Easy Choice Family kai booklet.  Wishing all students taking part in the Challenge the very best! We would love to share some images in our newsletter next term....... enjoy your cooking!

We are making these available to all children in Year 4 to 6 classes, on an optional basis this year.  All of the Australian Schools Competitions provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.

Competitions are available in the following areas:
Science,  English, Digital Technologies,  Mathematics and Spelling.

Each child who sits the examination will receive a certificate and a detailed results letter.  Cost for all online exams are $17.50 per subject.  Please note that exams will only go ahead if we have 3 or more students wishing to attend a particular subject. At present all exams will take place with Digital Technologies being the only exam with insufficient numbers.

Should you require further information and would like an exam registration slip please ring the office.

Please return completed registration slip to the office when payment is made.  If your child's exam does not go ahead any money paid will be refunded. Payment can be made direct to the schools bank account  as follows: 12-3071-0231432-00. Please note your child's name and ICAS as a reference.

Last day for all registrations is Friday 3rd July.

Please keep collecting your Yummy Apple stickers and coupons from Yummy Fruit and their bags (bought at Pak 'n' Save, New World and Four Square).

We are able to trade these for FREE SPORTS GEAR!

Just stick them onto any piece of paper, send them to school and we can attach them to a collection sheet in your child's classroom.

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give!
