Dear Freyberg Whānau,

Welcome, again, to Alert Level Three! During this time we will only have enough staff onsite to support those few children who need to be at school.  The office continues to be closed to visitors and we ask that you do not enter school property. As always, our priority is the wellbeing of our students, staff and wider school community. Please be assured that we are taking every possible precaution to ensure the ongoing safety of all.

Apart from teachers who are overseeing our bubbles at school, all other teachers will continue to work from home to provide distance learning for your children. We have been seeing some amazing work online - keep it up! A friendly reminder that many of our teachers have families of their own and like you, are busy juggling the learning needs of their own children as well as our Freyberg learners.

Please keep an eye out over the weekend for more emails from us regarding levels after we hear from the Government what the plan is for next week. In the meantime, please stay in your household bubbles and be safe!

Noho ora mai,

Maria Dopheide

Whānau at Freyberg Afternoon

We were beyond happy on Monday 25th February when we heard we were back into Alert Level One and our Freyberg Whānau Afternoon could still go ahead!

Thank you to all of you who came down to meet us and enjoy the sunny afternoon out on the field. ☀️💛 It was awesome to see you all there enjoying the slushies and mini donuts from Lil Orbits Mini Donuts, the cool Mr Whippy NZ creations, some bouncy fun from Blast Entertainment Hire Auckland, tasty real fruit ice-creams from Ice Cream Social NZ, some 450+ perfectly cooked delicious sausages and the chilled ribena drinks that were kindly donated by Frucor Suntory!

For those who called into the office to check (and update if necessary) your child's student details....we thank you!  The Summer Hamper draw will be drawn upon our return to school , our lucky winner will be notified and community informed in the following week's newsletter.

Please check out our Freyberg Facebook page for many more images of our fabulous meet and greet  with our Freyberg Whānau!

Swimming Due to Start for Team 1 - Rooms 1, 2, 3 & 4
Monday 1st March

With the school being closed under Alert Level 3 unfortunately these swimming lessons have had to be postponed.  Upon our return to normal school hours we are hoping to reschedule these lessons and will keep you updated as more information comes to hand.
We are excited to share the news that Freyberg Community School will be welcoming the NZ ice skate tour to our school hall! This will be taking place on the night of Monday the 6th of September and there are limited spaces - so get in quick. The school receives 20% of takings after the event so it is a great fundraiser for us! All students will receive an ice skating lesson during school time so it's a great opportunity for them to show off their new skills.

Kia Ora and Hello to our Freyberg Whānau

Our current Alert Level Three lockdown definitely means the classroom situation again differs from the norm but the learning continues for our amazing students. It has been great to see and hear what our students are up to.

Contributions sent in to share are from Room 1, Room 4, Room 7, Room 10 and Room 14.  Team 1 students have celebrated their own Super Hero Day and had an opportunity to write and learn about the four seasons.  Team 2 are learning all about nature and Team 3 are doing it all....from making gloop, enjoying playground time for maths, and going on virtual wild animal field trips. Ms Dopheide has been enjoying seeing the playground plans that have been suggested and I'm sure all of our learners will be interested to see if they resemble our new playground - currently due to be installed next week, weather and COVID permitting!

Thank you to our wonderful teachers for sharing with me the feel good images below.

Keeping working hard and hope to see you all soon!

We would also like to send a shout out and a massive thank you to BECS Drainage Ltd (and their super hard workers) for continuing to remove our old exisiting middle playground during this lockdown period while there is minimal students and staff on site.  It is super exciting and we can't wait to share further  updates with our Freyberg community!
Our Room 7 class teacher Ms Gallagher also wished to share an image taken prior to the current Alert Level Three.  Soooooo many happy faces and it certainly looks like you are enjoying your learning!

We look forward to seeing you all soon.......love and miss your smiling faces!
