Newsletter 007
Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are nearly there....I know that students and staff are all hanging out for a decent holiday after a very disruptive term! On behalf of everyone at Freyberg Community School I would like to thank our community for their support after a disruptive start to the year.

Last Friday we celebrated our first whole school assembly in over 12 months (apart from our final school assembly in December last year) and it was lovely to see our most creative students receiving citizenship awards - more info on this below.
We also introduced our 2021 House Leaders - congratulations to Isabella and Jacob from Kakariki, Eva and George from Whero, Leila and Jaeden from Kowhai, Anja and Lucas from Kahurangi, and Stevie and Manna from Tawa!

Have a fabulous break everybody - you've earned it.

Noho ora mai - stay safe,
Maria Dopheide

We are hoping to hold our
Freyberg Annual Athletics Day tomorrow Thursday the 15th of April, weather depending.

This is a schoolwide event for all students.  We encourage everyone to dress up in their house colours  on this day.  Face paint, pompoms, hats, socks, wigs etc are a fun way to show their house loyalty!

If you are unsure of your child's house please contact the class teacher or call/email the office staff who will be able to assist.

We'd love to see as many whānau members there as possible, so lock it in your calendar and keep the date free!
Congratulations to our Freyberg Top Citizens

This term's Top Citizens were awarded their badges for being outstanding role models for others by displaying the virtue of

Creativity / Auahutanga

Ka pai Josh, Olive, Hubert, Liana, Meimi, Lily, Adam, Ruby, Shinya and Riley!
A friendly reminder to sign in at the office when you come onto school property during school hours - this is an important health and safety requirement.
We are excited to share the news that Freyberg Community School will be welcoming the NZ ice skate tour to our school hall! This will be taking place on the night of Monday the 6th of September and there are limited spaces - so get in quick. The school receives 20% of takings after the event so it is a great fundraiser for us! All students will receive an ice skating lesson during school time so it's a great opportunity for them to show off their new skills.

Important information regarding Freyberg Netball

It looks like an exciting time ahead with some 30+ students wishing to play netball and represent our school. Teams have now been finalised and we have had our first meeting announcing teams, coaches and managers.

Again we would like to express our thanks to those parents who have put their hands up and offered to volunteer their precious time to coach and manage some of the netball teams. In addition to this, we'd like to say a special thank you to Ms Jenner for co-ordinating the 2021 Winter Season—a huge task—and much appreciated. :)

Netball Registration costs are as follows:

Year 2 & Year 4 - $75.00
Year 5 & Year 6 - $90.00

Please note that all registration fees will need to be paid by the end of term i.e.Friday 16th April or on Monday 3rd May at the very latest.

Missing School Uniforms & Lost Property

The swimming programme for the juniors took place from 15th March until 26th March.  During this time we always seem to have items accidentally picked up by others as the students are getting changed into togs/back into school uniforms.  If during this time your child has brought home any of the following items in error kindly drop them into the school office where they can be returned to their rightful owners.

Size 4/6 polo shirt - named Azariah Poppleton
Brand new girls black T-bar school shoes & swimming goggles - white and pink - named Riley Carseldine
Size 6 polo shirt - named Elijah Sila
Size 10 polar fleece jacket - named Catherine Duong - misplaced in Room 15

The stress created for students/parents/staff due to the loss of items could be avoided if all items were clearly named.  If you need assistance with naming any items office staff are more than happy to assist.

We also have a school hat with a "code" on it.  This may be relative to the child when looking for it in their class but not the office staff. If this hat belongs to your child please contact the school office and we will name this appropriately and return.

This week we have again added to quite a collection of drink bottles / toys and precious belongings being brought to school. Students are encouraged not to bring precious treasures as the distress caused with them being lost/misplaced is a problem which could be prevented if these toys in particular were kept at home.  If you think any of the pictured items belong to your child please give the office a call and we will gladly return them.

Last Wednesday a staff member lost a very precious piece of jewellery.  It could be anywhere on the school grounds and we ask that if any child has brought this home in error please kindly return it to the school office where it can be returned to the rightful owner.
With the cooler weather here, we are asking all families to check that all school uniforms are clearly named - in particular polar fleece and windproof jackets, as it certainly makes it easier to return if they end up in another class or the school office.

The office carries all uniform supplies and over the next few days we have additional supplies arriving for those who may wish to purchase items ready for next term.
