Dear Parents and Caregivers

We are very glad to be able to confirm that Freyberg will reopen on Monday the 18th of May for all learners. Our staff are all excited to be seeing their classes in person again and look forward to getting back to regular routines - we are sure there will be many lockdown stories to be told and much news to be shared!

We do encourage all parents to send their children back to school from next week but if you choose not to, we support your decision to do what you feel is best for your family at this time. Please do contact the office and let them know if your children will be absent so that we are aware of your plans. As we move to Alert Level Two, teachers will still be uploading limited work to Seesaw or Google Classroom - but as their first priority will be students learning onsite, they will not be available for regular online interaction throughout the day. Our Freyberg Distance Learning site which contains further work will continue to be updated and additional learning content can be accessed through the Ministry of Education Distance Learning site or the Home Learning TV channel.

A reminder of the staggered finish times next week:

Teams 1 and 2 (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10) will finish school at 2.45pm.
Team 3 (Rooms 13, 14, 15, 16 and 22) will finish school at 2.55pm.
Team 4 (Rooms 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21) will finish school at 3.05pm.

Please ensure that your children arrive at school and are picked up on time as during school hours our gates will be closed to prevent unexpected visitors entering our school.

Thank you all for your continued support and understanding. As always, if you have questions or comments please contact your child's teacher directly, or the school office at

Noho ora mai - stay safe,

Maria Dopheide

We hope your had/have a wonderful day
celebrating with family in your bubbles!
I hope that you are enjoying the welcome news that we are moving to Alert Level 2 and have contemplated giving the cooks in the house a night off!  Although cooler mornings, the sun is still shining and I hope you have all had a chance to get outside and enjoy this amazing Auckland weather. I feel that winter is just around the corner and now is the time to get out the warmer clothes and contemplate how lucky we have been to enjoy our families at home......where has 7 weeks gone!!

With students encouraged to return to school on Monday 18th May below is a reminder of what our "new normal" looks like while we are at Alert Level 2.

School management have decided not to allow parents/caregivers or other visitors on site for the remainder of the time that we are at Level 2.  This is to ensure that any contact tracing required will be as straightforward and simple as possible.  The  only exception to this rule will be for parents of students who are newly enrolled at our school (for example, New Entrants who will be starting school on 18th May), if there is an emergency, or if a visitor has received clearance from school staff.  Any parent/caregiver who falls into this category will be required to sign in and out at the office for contact tracing purposes.

We appreciate that this may be distressing for some parents but we see it as a great opportunity for our students to develop their independence and self management skills while keeping our community safe at the same time.  There will be staff at each gate to offer assistance if needed.

If you need to contact the office for any reason, to ask any questions or inform us that you are keeping your child at home -  you can do so by calling us on (09) 8389664, texting on 027 364 7271, or emailing

Please also note that all Community Education after school classes have been cancelled for the remainder of the term.  Over the next few days the Community Education Director, Linda, will be in touch with all families concerned to discuss rescheduling/refunds for all classes cancelled this term.  We have also been informed by Duck n' Dive that the school pool is closed until further notice.

On a lighter note, if you ha
ve thoroughly enjoyed your time at home and have any thing that you wish to share - i.e. an interesting piece of art, or a great story you have written....feel free to send it to your class teacher or direct to  I am more than happy to share and look forward to hearing what you have been up to in your bubbles!

There certainly seems to be " light at the end of the tunnel" and we look forward to seeing everyone next week. Until then stay safe and take care.

Warmest regards
Mrs Prins
Yummy Apple Sticker Collection

Please keep collecting your Yummy Apple stickers and coupons from Yummy Fruit and their bags (bought at Pak 'n' Save, New World and Four Square). We are able to trade these for FREE SPORTS GEAR! Just stick them onto any piece of paper while you are in lockdown and we can attach them to a collection sheet in your child's classroom when you get back to school.

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give!
Check out Room 4 & 5 students having a funny hat day Zoom meeting.

Lots of smiles and happy faces
which we are going to see hopefully very soon!
Our lovely librarian Mrs Temu wishes to remind all students that you can access our e-platform to read many of our e-books.  The number of books available is huge and we are sure you will find something to keep you busy!
Remember, reading allows us to be many things.....informed, escape, and of course - relax!

The username is Room 7 (change to your child's classroom)
The password is 1280 (this allows access for all Freyberg students)

Room 10 was treated to a read aloud of Pig the Pug on Zoom, followed by a cameo by Ranger the Pug.

We have been staying in touch through Seesaw and Zoom but are really looking forward to seeing our friends in person next week!
This work is shared by  Evie Neal in Rm 14.
Evie  wanted to know if stars are rocks.
Her inquiry is recorded above with her results.
Thanks for sharing have been very busy!!!!!
Thank you Mr Tevaga!  Here is just a small sample of the awesome work being created by the wonderfully talented Room 13 students.

It certainly looks like your students have been very creative.
The artwork and origami is super impressive and we would be more than happy to display your work for all to see in the school office once we all return!
