Our school is at the beginning of our enviro journey towards being more sustainable. Every Friday we have Nude Food Friday. This means each Friday we will try to keep any single use packaging out of lunchboxes. We are doing this because pieces of rubbish manage to sneak out of lunch boxes and litter our school - blocking drains, wrapping around plants, and attracting unwanted rodent visitors. Any little change will help our school, so have a look at the "lunch box" below for some helpful information.
Great News Travels Fast!

We have some 410+ amazing students at Freyberg!  In amongst this lovely group of students is a standout student for a super special reason. A couple of weekends ago Sophie Brocas in Room 1 visited Sustainable Salons and had her beautiful, long hair cut to donate for cancer patients and alopecia sufferers to have wigs made for them.  This is a very brave, heartwarming gesture and follows her sister Chloe's decision to do this a few years ago.

Thank you Sophie (and Chloe) for being wonderful role models displaying the virtue of empathy.....truly inspiring!
This term classes have been given the opportunity to take part in the HELL Pizza Reading Challenge, which is being run in conjunction with the 2021 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.

The Hell Pizza Reading Challenge is a highly successful programme that gets kids reading and enjoying the pleasures of books with free pizza rewards.

Classes participating have now received their "pizza wheels"  and every time a student finishes a book, the wheel gets clicked off. Once complete the wheel requires a school authorisation stamp (available from the office) on the reverse of the wheel enabling them to redeem their free pizza.

A great reading challenge with tasty rewards!
Please note that Freyberg Community School benefits from all sales made!
Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give :)
Please keep collecting your Yummy Apple stickers and coupons from Yummy Fruit and their bags (bought at Pak 'n' Save, New World and Four Square).

We are able to trade these for FREE SPORTS GEAR!

Just stick them onto any piece of paper, send them to school and we can attach them to a collection sheet in your child's classroom.

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give.
Important Information for All Parents/Caregivers

A concerned parent has informed us that they witnessed one of our precious students being nearly hit by a car at the Tiroroa gate entrance.  This has highlighted the fact that we still have parents reversing down the driveway with little or no vision.

This car park is strictly for staff and there are 5 allocated parking spaces available for preschool parents only.

Please do not reverse down the driveway!

Always ensure you drive out of the gate with clear visibility of all students especially those crossing the carpark entry/exit.

This is a health and safety concern and we expect co-operation in this request.
Please collect an information/ registration form from the school office if you are interested in having your child take part in this very worthwhile school holiday programme.
