Ni hao, happy Chinese Language Week and 👋🏻, happy NZ Sign Language Week!

Auckland remains at Covid-19 Alert Level Two for now which means that for the remainder of this term we will continue with our usual Level Two protocols of no visitors on site, closed gates and staggered finish times (with the exception of the parents of the parents of New Entrant children in Room 7 who may continue to come on site while their children continue to settle in to school).

We expect to be back at Level One at the beginning of Term Four and this means we will be back to normal again with open gates, visitors welcomed back onsite and a normal finish time of 3.05pm. We are looking forward to saying hello and connecting with our community again, and we thank you once more for your willingness to support our health and safety plans throughout Levels Two and Three.

This week is also Mental Health Awareness Week and we encourage to check on your friends and family and see if they are doing ok. You can visit the Mental Health Awareness website
here for support and resources.

Our 2020 Freyberg Fun Run proved to be an absolute success on Monday and was enjoyed immensely by staff and students alike. Thank you to all of the students who have taken the time to raise the funds for us and thank you to our amazing community for donating! If you have not seen the footage yet we have uploaded live streams and photos of the day onto our school Facebook page. We have raised approximately $33,000 which will be put towards making our outdoor areas more exciting and engaging for our learners.

Zhúyl ānquán - stay safe,

Maria Dopheide
Principal

Student Enrolments for 2021

This term we are calling for all enrolments (in zone and out of zone) for children wishing to attend Freyberg School in 2021.

Applications for both in zone and out of zone students will close on Wednesday 14th October.  If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot.  If a ballot is required it will be held on Tuesday 20th October.  Parents will be informed of the ballot within 3 school days of the ballot being held.

If you have a child already attending Freyberg and they have a younger sibling due to start in 2021, paperwork needs to be completed before 14th October.

Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding your zone status or require a school enrolment form for 2021.

Freyberg Fun Run

Oh my goodness .......what an amazing fundraiser for our school and of course what a day Monday was!

We have never seen so many smiles on our students faces!  The colour fun run was incredible event for our students and of course our "bigger kids" - the  staff.  The teachers set up some very creative courses, the sun shone, the rain kept away and a great day was had by all.  With the school raising just over $33,000 now is the time to remind our families that any cash sponsorship needs to be brought into the school office by Friday 25th September.  This money will be used to help enhance our outdoor areas.

A special thanks to Mr Allely for coordinating this event for our school.  He will be sending out communication regarding how prizes can be claimed later this week. The support from our families has been overwhelming and we would all like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Swimming Programme
Team 1 (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7) & Team 2 (Rooms 8, 9 & 10)

Our last lesson is  Friday the 25th of September.   Please remember to check the lost property table in the swimming pool complex for any misplaced items i.e. towels, togs, goggles etc.

We hope you have enjoyed these free swimming lessons and we encourage you to keep up your new swimming skills over the summer months.

Our Lost Property Pile Continues to Grow

We currently have some 9 polar fleeces/shower proof jackets and 5 hats  in the school office waiting to be returned to their rightful owners.  Unfortunately all of these jackets/hats are either unnamed or have the name of a student who no longer attends Freyberg.  If you have been given a 2nd uniform item please ensure that your child's name is clearly marked on the inside of the jacket/hat for easy recognition.

A large number of these uniform items have been in the office since late May.  Any unclaimed items at the end of the term will be washed and will be available for distribution.  If you do not have access to a black vivid marker please pop into the school office where we will happily assist with naming any items for your child. Please see the office staff if you have any questions.

In addition to the normal uniform items we have umbrellas, shoes, water bottles, lunchboxes, towels, togs and toys.  If you recognise any of the above toys and were unaware that they were "visiting Freyberg" please give the office a call and we will reunite the items with their owners.
