Vintage House offers the following statement in support of its mission and commitment to serve our members and the Sonoma Valley community.
Vintage House embraces respect and inclusivity as core values. We are deeply saddened by the recent events in our country and we believe it is important to engage with each other in active opposition to racism and discrimination of all forms. We stand in solidarity with and in defense of Black lives, Black voices, and Black experiences. Any injustice that affects others affects us all.
Vintage House is committed to life-long learning and having community conversations around racial justice, equality, and inclusion. We envision a community that allows each of us to live our best possible life as we age.
With this in mind, we are creating programs that will promote anti-racism, diversity, and anti-ageism. Our goal is to increase mutual understanding and unity within the Vintage House community that will reverberate throughout our Valley and beyond.
We will begin a community conversation on September 25 with a 5-part series (virtual) called Race in 21st Century America. The presenter – David Peritz – specializes in political philosophy. He will explore how theories of democracy and justice relate to issues of diversity and inequality. Later this year, we look forward to addressing ageism in healthcare. We hope you join in the conversation!
