I don’t know about you, but for me, it feels as if there was little to no transition between the end of the power outages and the beginning of the holiday frenzy. I roasted a few turkeys, knitted a blanket for my will-be-here-any-day now granddaughter, baked a few pies, made a lot of bread, and in the midst of it, we published the Fall/Winter Vintage Voice Newsletter (a member benefit). Well, this aforementioned frenzy seems to have gotten in the way of my proofreading abilities and so there are a couple of items that need correction:
  1. The amazing Brian Nova (former Sonoma resident) is playing on the 5th of January (not the 4th) at 4:00 pm, not 6:00 pm!  The doors open at 3:00 pm. If you have never heard Brian, you must put this on your calendar.  Tickets for the concert just went on sale and are available on our website, https://vintagehouse.org/events/?eid=6065. To learn more about Brian Nova, visit https://www.briannova.com.
  2. We have recently launched Supper’sOn!, an expansion of our beloved Soup’sOn! program. The newsletter mistakenly reported that this community dinner takes place on the fourth Wednesday of each month but I am happy to say, Supper’sOn! is underway EVERY WEDNESDAY from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. If you haven’t check it out yet, you just have to come down to Vintage House to discover the deliciousness that awaits you!
So, there you have it!  My sincere apologies for any confusion these errors may have caused.  The silver lining in it all is that I got to highlight two amazing programs happening here at “The House.”

Wait...there’s more… Our Transportation Coordinator’s name is Denise Wilbanks, not “Denise Wilbanks Transportation!”  Speaking of Denise, she and a group of dedicated volunteers have put together an incredible Holiday Shoppe, full of decorations, gift items, ornaments, and more. Proceeds from all sales support myRide, our free transportation program for seniors who no longer drive. Help us spread the word, and stop by the Holiday Shoppe located in the Sonoma Marketplace on West Napa St. We are open Thursday through Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

On #GivingTuesday, you showed us your giving spirit. Because of your generosity and belief in Vintage House, we were able to raise over $6,000!

Thanks for listening. I feel better now. Have a great weekend, one and all.

Book Talk by Author Simon Blattner

Libros de Artista

Author Simon Blattner will be reading excerpts from his newly released book: Libros de Artista, Artists' Books from Mexico and the Mexican Diaspora.

In his new book, Blattner tells the story of how he came to love handmade paper, printing, and artists' books. He describes how he discovered the robust artists' book scene of Mexico and his own life adventure. Included in the book are brilliant photographs of 15 unique contemporary artists' books and a compelling forward by artist and Stanford University Professor, Enrique Chagoya. Libros de Artista is a bilingual book in English and Spanish and is a powerful look at the most exciting hand-made art books in the world today.
