Staff Corner

Peter Heredia

Hello! My name is Peter Heredia. Before the current state of affairs, you might have seen me at the front desk of Vintage House, where I am the Volunteer and Front Desk Coordinator.

My job at Vintage House has afforded me the privilege to meet many wonderful people. Some of them work alongside me, and others attend some of the classes or activities we offer.  During this predicament, where we have to be careful and stay safe, it has been great to join forces with my coworkers and provide many needed services to our community.

We have implemented a volunteer shopping program, Vintage House Delivers, where we shop for people in order to allow them to stay in their homes and limit their exposure to COVID-19. This program, along with other initiatives we have started at Vintage House, has allowed us to stay in contact with our Sonoma Valley older adults, and have also helped us maintain some level of normalcy.

Here are some of the things I have been enjoying while staying at home:
On-Screen: Ken Burn’s “The West”: a 1996 television documentary miniseries about the American Old West. This is available on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Click here to see a preview.

Music: I have been really enjoying a Brazilian band called Sessa. They play a folksy bossanova that is both rhythmic and soothing at the same time. Their 2019 album “Grandeza” is great.

Activities: Aside from the common evening walk, I have dusted off my old skateboard. It has been great to skate on almost-empty streets. Very relaxing.

Food & Drink: The shelter-in-place order has forced most people to spend more time in the kitchen. Last night, I treated my friend to Grilled Skirt Steak Tacos with Rajas. Here is a link to the recipe. I highly recommend it! It pairs well with a classic cocktail the Cuba Libre (as my grandfather used to make them).

We hope that you have been enjoying the Staff Corner and Teacher Corner of our e-blast. What are you up to? We want to hear from you! Please share how you are spending your time away from Vintage House. You can even share a selfie! Please email Be sure to like us on Facebook. It's a great way to get up-to-date information about our community.

Every Thursday evening, connect with Katie and each other as you ZOOM in for a guided meditation, followed by questions and group discussion. Take a deep breath and let out a sigh as you ease into relaxation and stillness.
