We hope you are warm and safe in this New Year!

The Mahoney House takes on Vegas

Staff members of The Mahoney House headed off to Vegas at the beginning of December to attend the National Institute of Crime Prevention's Advanced Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Training! This training was a great opportunity for staff members to learn, network, and bond with each other as a team. TMH is grateful for the opportunity to continue to expand our knowledge to better serve those in Lemhi and Custer Counties.

The Impact of Donations

The Mahoney House was able to provide deposit assistance to two survivors this quarter. These individuals were escaping unsafe housing situations. Thanks to financial donations, we were able to assist these survivors in paying their initial deposit and providing rental assistance. Without this help, the survivors would have been faced with the impossible choice of staying in an abusive situation or experiencing homelessness.

We look forward to being able to assist many more survivors with the funds we were able to raise through Avenues for Hope!
In the last quarter (October 1, 2021-December 31, 2021), The Mahoney House has served 8 victims of stalking.

Most victims of stalking talk to a friend, family member, or someone else they know and trust about the situation before pursuing any sort of professional or legal help. If a stalking victim talks to you, your response significantly impacts if they feel validated and/or seek help. If you feel you or someone you know is at risk, reach out to The Mahoney House for resources and safety planning.

The Mahoney House is excited to be back in the Salmon School District! Due to Covid-19, we have been unable to work within the school district since March 2020. In November 2021 we were able to begin going back into classrooms at both the elementary and middle schools! Our team will be discussing topics like empathy, acceptance, friendship, and ways to regulate emotions with students. Staff and students have been enjoying our presence back in the schools. We are beyond grateful to continue being there for the youth in our community!
The Mahoney House has assisted two teens actively experiencing dating violence during this quarter.

It is vital for our youth that we spend time talking to them about healthy relationships, red flags, boundaries, and self-worth. Not only do we need to be discussing these topics with teens but we need to listen to them when they talk to us. Having open, genuine conversations with our teens about dating can impact them for the rest of their lives.
