Concorde Cohousing Newsletter

Dear <<First Name>>,

Hello again (and welcome to new readers!)
This email is our fourth monthly newsletter - monthly because we generally have two events in a month that you might be interested in and newsletter because things are starting to happen that we hope will be newsworthy. The second one was in 2018 so "monthly" is an aspiration that we hope to fulfill better this year.

If you are no longer interested in hearing from us MailChimp makes it easy for you to get off this list (see the bottom).

That's all for now.
take care,
Jake Morrison for

Concorde in the news:

CKCU
Concorde member Mary Huang was interviewed in Spring by CKCU's Monique Fuller, along with Rebecca Aird, founding (and current) resident of Ontario's only completed cohousing project.  Listen HERE as they address questions such as:
  • Beyond the definition, what actually IS Cohousing?
  • Can it create more resilient communities?
  • Can one "build their own" retirement home?
  • What could (and should) governments do to facilitate this form of housing?
  • Is cohousing radical?
  • Can others in our city benefit from cohousing ideas or communities?
The Ottawa Citizen
Mary, Val, Margery and Jake were recently interviewed for an upcoming Ottawa Citizen article by Joanne Laucius. She contacted us because of her interest in reporting on ways of dealing with loneliness in modern society. We'll see what she comes out with! Look for it in the coming month.

Introducing...

Val Thacker-Smith

Val is a member of the Concorde CMOP circle (Communications, Membership, Outreach and Process). She manages the website.

My name is Valerie and my interest in cohousing began when I lived in Haiti in 2005.  (After coup, before earthquake, for you fuzzy-in-recent-ish-history types)

It wasn’t called cohousing, but “Lakou.”

Read on HERE.

December Discovery

Each month we highlight a resource from the web. With thousands of communities in the world and about 400 in North America, the resources are abundant!

This month we'll take from Cohousing Development Consulting (CDC), the most active Canadian cohousing consultant. Alas, CDC only works in Western Canada.

Their "Getting Started" page is a great overview of the whole process.

Happy to help.
