Bi-monthly update
for you
from CrossReach

Hi <<First Name>>, here's a special
CrossReach eNewsletter for you
Dear <<First Name>>,
As we are both part of the Church of Scotland, I'm contacting you to let you know about a simple opportunity for you to keep up to date with an area of the Church.

As you know, CrossReach is the operating name for the Church's highly respected Social Care Council.  As we have so much current information and news to share, we now issue a Newsletter by email every two months.  We will send you your very own copy of these at two monthly intervals, beginning in March, but I thought you would like to see last month’s since it contains items which are still relevant and which might appeal to you.

You can unsubscribe from receiving these eNewsletters at any time simply by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the page.
Happy New Year!

Ok, I know it's a bit late in January to say this, but I do mean it! I wish you every happiness and blessing for 2019.

As a supporter of CrossReach, we do care about you.
This is why we are launching our "Pray for me" initiative for you, our amazing supporter.

We could all use some prayer support at different times. If you would like our staff team to pray confidentially for you, then please drop us an email at supporters@crossreach.org.uk  with the Subject of"Pray for me". We don't want to pry, but do ask that you outline what you want us to pray for so we can pray intelligently. While we will respect your confidentiality, we may use your first name when the team are praying for you.

Praise God for answered prayers.
It's always encouraging to hear when God answers prayer. Using the same contact details as above, please send us a "Prayer Answered!" email once your prayer is answered so we can rejoice with you and thank God with you.

We look forward to hearing what God will do for you!

"The experience was pretty unforgettable!"

2019 has begun and we have some wonderfully weird and exciting opportunities for you to get involved with, make some unforgettable memories and make a difference to people in your local communities.

Doing something brave and challenging is a great way to stretch yourself, and an abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge, over the Forth and 150 feet in the air, is a wonderful way to do just that!

This year, the famous abseil takes place on the 7th July at South Queensferry.

To take part, you only need to pay a £30 registration fee and commit to raising a minimum of £150 for CrossReach. Everything you raise will directly impact the people you see every day; like those struggling with dementia, depression or loneliness.

Sign up HERE today!

Read Caroline's story about why she'd recommend the abseil for CrossReach to anyone!
"The descent itself was incredible!

150 feet up in the air oddly seemed safe and after a few moments of getting used to the wind and new sounds I was able to concentrate on the amazing view!

The experience was pretty unforgettable, and I especially loved seeing the other abseilers doing it at the same time as me. It gave it a really wonderful sense of togetherness in something that was so unique and fun!’’

We'd love to welcome you onto Team CrossReach!
Your support means we can continue to work with local communities like yours: with adults, children and families, to offer loving care.

Make 2019 an unforgettable year by registering today to abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge with CrossReach!

Please do get in touch with us if you have any questions. You can either call us on 0131 454 4391 or send an email to events@crossreach.org.uk

What stays in the corner yet travels all round the world?

A stamp!

Your stamps may have travelled from afar over the festive period, or from somewhere local. Wherever they have travelled, we gratefully accept stamps from anywhere in the world.

We recycle your old and used stamps to fund CrossReach's life changing work across Scotland. Old stamps, used stamps, stamp albums, first day covers, postcards, medals and other collectables can all be turned into funds and used to create amazing positive change, right here in Scotland.

How to donate used stamps and collectables:
Please cut the stamp off the envelope leaving a small (4mm - 8mm) border. Please do not steam stamps off envelopes. The rest of the envelope can be recycled, which also makes it cheaper to post
your stamps!

Please post stamps and collectables to:

Thank you in advance.

150 years and going strong!

Recently Viv Dickenson, CrossReach's Chief Executive, spoke with BBC Radio Scotland about CrossReach celebrating 150 years of providing life changing social care in Scotland. And you, as a supporter, are part of that care!

Guardian Angel Appeal ... Latest Update

THANK YOU!

Your response, so far,  to the Guardian Angel Appeal has, quite simply, been fantastic!
The CrossReach services who received your Guardian Angel responses are "blown away" with the prayers, kind wishes and messages of support you sent
in.

You have already given a record amount of financial gifts as Guardian Angels, and the gifts are still coming in!

Both individuals and churches, as well as church organisations, have been sending in their generous gifts in record amounts to help others who find themselves in vulnerable circumstan
ces. As a direct result of their generosity, more than 20 families are receiving CrossReach’s life-saving ante- and postnatal (PND) counselling.

The Guardian Angel Appeal is still open, so there's still time to donate.

You can donate on-line HERE to become a Guardian Angel, or send a cheque (payable to CrossReach) to Guardian Angel Appeal, CrossReach, Charis House, 47 Milton Road East, Edinburgh, EH15 2SR. Or you can give over the phone by credit card on 0131 454 4374.
Thank you for making a difference by being a Guardian Angel.

Did someone say knitwalk?

No! We said KILTWALK!

Imagine the scene: you are there with hundreds of others at the starting line; the buzz among the participants is almost tangible, and finally you are off for a great time walking 6, 15, or 23 miles in the glorious Scottish sunshine (15 degrees).

To your left and right are people from your church, Guild, youth group, and others. What a thrilling way to raise money so that others might benefit!

As well as those CrossReach work with benefitting, you benefit as well! How? There's the obvious fresh air as a walk is good for you, and there's also the immense feeling of satisfaction that you are making a difference for someone.

And if you are a Guild member, you get to do the walk for free, and if you walk with a friend, they get their place free as well! You do need to raise sponsorship for CrossReach though.

Sign up for the Kiltwalk NOW, and get your church, friends, family, neighbours to sign up as well.

Go on! YOU CAN DO IT!

It's good to talk...
There's only limited space here to let you know of the transformations you and CrossReach, together, are making in Scotland, and the opportunities to do more.
We would love to come and talk to your Church, Guild or
other group
to let you know more about the exciting, life changing, differences being made, and how you can be part of it.
Phone us now on 0131 454 4374 or email supporters@crossreach.org.uk and let's agree a date to talk.
