January 2021

Dear <<Preferred Salutation>>,

As a valued friend and supporter of CrossReach, we are excited to tell you a little about what we are up to and how your generosity is allowing us to support more people across Scotland.

Toy Recycle Story
Lucie Conway (pictured above), is a support worker at CrossReach's Tayside Support Services and is organiser of the CrossReach Toy Recycle. She was overwhelmed when she learned that over 1,600 people in the Dundee area had voted for the Toy Recycle to win The Courier Christmas Charity Appeal.

The Toy Recycle received £1,000 for being nominated as one of the four charities featured this year in the Christmas Charity Appeal, and an additional £1,000 for being chosen by the readers as the winner.

Speaking about the Toy Recycle event Lucie said: "We're helping 130 children this year and seeing the gratitude of their parents and that pressure lifted off their shoulders makes it all worth it."

Inspired by young Freya Skene, the Toy Recycle also saw local firms getting involved in the spirit of Christmas by donating transport.

Volunteers at the Toy Recycle were all either in recovery from addictions or were a family member of someone affected by addiction. Due to Covid, the Recovery Café they usually volunteer in couldn't open, so they all came together to help at this event. Freya's mum also came along and was able to see, first-hand, what her daughter started.

To the Top of the World!
On 4 January 2021, fifty seven determined and focused individuals started their virtual ascent of Mount Everest to raise funds for CrossReach services. They are all led and inspired by husband and wife team Graeme and Helen Wright, owners of Wright Fitness in Moray. (pictured)

“This is no normal ascent, Mount Everest is 8,848m or 348,336 inches tall. Team members will be jumping their way to the top” said Helen as she explained how the challenge will be completed. "The participants are in teams of 10, and each individual mountaineer will need to complete 1,936 x 18 inch box jumps, step ups or stair walks over a 40 day period to reach the summit."

Helen says “I heard about CrossReach through friends who have used their services but we didn’t really know what the charity did. After finding out about the work they do across Scotland, and in Buckie, we decided to put our efforts into raising money for them.”

About the event, Helen says “It is going to be tough, muscles will be sore but the effort and commitment is amazing!”

You can help to keep the team inspired and make a donation today by clicking HERE

All money raised will go directly to supporting vulnerable people across Scotland!

Good luck Team Everest and thank you, from everyone at CrossReach!

And it's goodbye from him...
12 years after starting with CrossReach’s Supporter Development Team, the time has come for me to hang up my fundraising pen and move to a new pace of life, known as retirement, at the end of February 2021.

It has been my huge honour and privilege to serve you, as one of CrossReach’s amazing supporters, over these past years. Your outstanding loyalty and generosity in financial and prayer support for the people CrossReach work with every day is truly an inspiration, not just to me, but to everyone here at CrossReach. I will miss constantly being blessed, astounded and humbled by your generosity.

Your new Donor Relationship Officer is Robyn Gilliland, and I’m sure you will welcome her and astound her with your continuing generosity of spirit as much as you have astounded me.

I pray our Heavenly Father will continue to bless you hugely as you continue to respond to the needs of people in vulnerable situations throughout Scotland.

May I leave you with my favourite fundraising Bible verse from Proverbs chapter 19, verse 17;
"Mercy to the needy is a loan to God, and God pays back those loans in full." (MSG)

Have an excellent day!
Pete Cuthbertson
Winter Appeal 2020

Dear <<Preferred Salutation>>,

With Winter, demand for CrossReach's Services increases; the need for care, counselling, special education and practical measures to support people in vulnerable situations are all exacerbated by Covid-19. This is why we launched our Winter Appeal last October.

It's still Winter. We still have the impact of Covid-19, and we still have high demand for our services.

Are you able to help CrossReach at this most crucial time through either a regular monthly donation, or a one-off donation, please?

Your donation(s) can help provide:
  • essential supplies to keep service users and staff connected and protected.
  • telephone counselling for people who find their mental health is suffering at this time
  • ongoing loving care across all our services, including learning disabilities, homelessness, addiction recovery and children’s services
Please, help as you are able.

To give now, click HERE.

Thank you!
