A Collaboration of Celebration - The Results

I asked, you answered.

Last week I proposed a challenge for you to respond with something(s) you are grateful for, or thankful for, that are unique to this year 2020. I was floored by the responses.

I compiled them into a document below. It was such a fun experience, and I enjoyed hearing from each of you. (Note, I didn't include ALL of the responses as some were so personal I couldn't anonymize them and have it still make sense. So I just included initials and edited some words to keep things unidentifiable.)

We Begin Our Lives as Growth Stocks, but End Our Lives as Value Stocks

I really enjoyed this article. It referenced a study I had seen before on the interesting intersection of "expected" life satisfaction vs "current" life satisfaction over time, by age. (See image below). As Nick frames his title:

"We begin our lives as growth stocks, but end our lives as value stocks. The high expectations of youth (growth) eventually get replaced by lower expectations and upside surprises as you age (value)."

Granted, we don't have to become a slave to this system or culture, and we can plot our own set of expectations (which we should!) - but the aggregate data on this is interesting.
Thank you again for your part in this Collaboration of Celebration exercise. I hope it was valuable for you, because I know it was certainly valuable for me! Just don't let it be a one-off exercise - let's make a practice of acknowledging and expressing gratitude on a daily basis.

Gratefully,
