Nature: The Ultimate Reset
|
|
Want it improve your ability to cope with stress or improve the quality of your sleep? Spend time in nature. Additional benefits of being outdoors include: developing and maintaining a positive outlook, increasing your sense of vitality, reducing anxiety, and improving your cognitive function.
|
|
Take a hike, sit by the water, or tend the garden. Seize any opportunity to escape screens and cement to reset and renew. Fresh air, exercise, grounding and Vitamin D combine to enhance our relationships and wellness. It's easy to feel too busy. Please remember, you're worth it!

One, two…
Search for blue
and every other color of the rainbow.
Three, four...
You could keep score
of how many different kinds of wildflowers, mushrooms or pine cones you find.
Five, six…
pick up sticks.
You know your kids want to! They can help with trail maintenance by tossing sticks found on pathways to the lower side of the trail. We want debris to wash down hill rather than back onto the trail.

Seven, eight...
stand still and wait
till you can identify 10 different sounds around you.
Nine, Ten...
Do it again!
And again! Research suggests many benefits from regular time spent outdoors.

Danielle Cohen promotes taking children into nature in this article from the Child Mind Institute including a startling statistic: "The average American child is said to spend 4 to 7 minutes a day in unstructured play outdoors, and over 7 hours a day in front of a screen."
