Love, Lust and Romance in the Age of #MeToo & More!

If you live near me, I would love your participation in a unique offering.  I have joined forces with a close friend and colleague, Veronica Monet, to teach a workshop about the nature of true consent. It's a mixed gender workshop which makes it fairly uncommon right there.

And we are going to share some really useful techniques for saying your no while creating MORE heart connection, which makes this VERY unique. Most assertion trainings don't address our deep desire not to offend others. And most healthy boundary teachings don't show us how to create more connection while saying no.

And we very much also want to learn from you!  Your perspective is essential to helping us refine our understanding of consent in a context that helps us keep and even enhance the romance and lust and intrigue and flirting - all those things that make us feel so alive!

#MeToo had to come and I am so glad it has. And we need more than #MeToo if we are going to get to a future where both men and women can feel safe and seen and invited to express our desire as well as our boundaries.

How do we do that? That's the question we are going to wrestle with. Are you up for joining this conversation?

I promise we will do FAR more than explore that question.

Here are the Specific Tools you will obtain from participating in this group:

1. Communication that creates connection and empathy even when the answer is no. This is called the Exquisite Partnership Formula™.

2. Proven ways to interrupt your angry outbursts while staying connected to the wisdom of your rage. Your feelings are your compass. We will teach you how to feel your feelings, access your wisdom and refrain from negative behaviors.

3. Healing from sexual abuse requires specific steps. We both know those steps intimately as both a rape recovery coach and a sexual assault survivor. We will help you chart your own path toward reclaiming your sexual joy and wholeness.

4. Yoga for Healing Trauma  & mindfulness exercises that you can do every day in the privacy of your home.

We are going to meet for four Fridays for two hours each week. The last half hour of every workshop will be devoted to yoga for trauma recovery. Our intention is to make sure you leave class each week, feeling renewed and fully in your body.

Our first meeting takes place Friday, January 18th from 6PM to 8PM in downtown Nevada City, CA. If you want to join us, just email me by hitting reply to this email or better yet, text Veronica at 415.407.2932.

If you pre-register by this Friday (the 11th of January), you can take advantage of the early bird discount. That's $97 for a four week workshop instead of the full price of $120. Our deadline for pre-registration is actually tomorrow (the 8th of January) at midnight but I am extending it to January 11th just for my students and clients.

Let me know if you want to come. I would love to have you in our group.

We will only be accepting about a dozen people into this workshop so you can't pre-register online. Veronica wants to speak directly with everyone. Like I said, this is deeply personal. Hope to hear from you.

And Happy 2019!
So much to be grateful for in 2018:
A fabulous group in my last 50 hour training, the birth of my son, Aeden Lucas Bright on 9/9/18 after 30 hours of labor, and a nice long maternity bubble while I adjust to rhythms of both children. We enjoyed our first holidays as a family of four, starting with Halloween. Even as I write this on my phone in one hand, my daughter is playing well with a box, a doll and her imagination in the living room and my son is making cooing baby noises and funny faces on my lap.

I have experienced some pretty extreme physical challenges, at least for me. I don’t remember the recovery taking so long or being so hard the first time, even after much greater intensity of ligament stretching and many stitches, which I didn’t have the second time. My pain is just starting to recede with daily strengthening exercises. I feel like I aged 20 years in a few months and like I am getting a taste of what old age will be like! It has humbled me greatly and I thought I was pretty humble already!

I am so grateful that I have been able to be with my kids so much for about four months, not having to juggle work much yet. I can’t imagine how parents who have to go back to work after just three to six weeks do it- it seems that the kids’ & parents’ attachment must really suffer. While I know that this choice often comes down to finances, having a parent at home for more time than this does seem to make a big difference in kids’ development.

As we enter 2019, I am called to practice an teach mental hygiene as it relates to support people who are healing from trauma. I was able to read one book and almost complete writing my book while I was disengaged from the world. I am hoping to finish this book in the next few months, at least to get it to a point we can begin editing, as well as a video series.

I am blessed to secure a contract working with FEMA as well, holding a Trauma Informed Movement and Self Care program to support their resilience as they face the most intense crises in the country..

I am continuing classes at Community Beyond Violence, formerly DVSAC, and Charis Youth Services, and starting a class with Friendship Club for at-risk girls.

I am excited to offer a FREE Introductory Trauma Informed Self Care Practices on Feb 6, 6:30-8:30 at Sierra Nevada Children's Services- primarily for foster parents & providers, but you are welcome too if you want to up your self-care and hear about it in a trauma-informed way.

And finally, I am planning to hold one Trauma Informed Yoga & Ayurveda training in September this year, so in addition to some online training, mark your calendars for the retreat if you are interested and let me know! Sept 5- Sept 8.

Please share with friends!

Blessings to you all,
Schuyler
