The Gregg W. Lewis Scholar Athlete Awards

Gregg Lewis was an athlete and scholar who was a 1988 graduate of Clarke Central High School. Mr. Lewis lived the example of being both an athlete and a scholar while serving our country in the military. This award was created in his memory by his family and is given to one male and one female student in the Clarke County School District who have participated in athletics all four years and have lettered in at least one sport. Of the candidates meeting these criteria, the two students (one male and one female) with the highest GPAs are chosen. If there is a tie in GPAs, the award will be based on rank in class. 

The two winners receive $500 each:

Johanna Hall (Central)-tennis 4 yrs, swimming 4 yrs, cross country 4 yrs, valedictorian, headed to GA Tech

Brett Fraysher (Cedar)-baseball 4 yrs, headed to the Univ of AL on an academic scholarship

The two runners up receive $250 each:

Jessica Owensby (Cedar)-volleyball 4 yrs, headed to UGA

Colin Dube-Cantin (Central)-cross country 4 yrs, track 3 yrs, swimming 3 yrs, headed to UGA
 

The Marge Schneider Science Awards

The Marge Schneider Science Awards ($250 award at each traditional high school) honor a graduating senior at each high school who is a science honors student and who is active in service within the school or community. Award recipients are selected by the science department of their school.

Robbie Ratajczak (Cedar)-captain of the swim team, president of Postive About Cedar Shoals, tennis, Beta Club, Eagle Scout, headed to UGA to study mechanical engineering 

Preston Harden (Central)-ecology club, literary magazine contributor, drama, Governor's Honors nominee, headed to UGA
 

The Charlotte and Claude Williams American History Awards

The Charlotte and Claude Williams American History Awards  ($250 award at each traditional high school) honor a junior at each high school who has excelled in both US history and government and who is active in service within the school or community. Award recipients are selected by the social studies department of their school. 

Jenny Sanchez (Cedar)-Student Government Association for 3 years, Outdoors Club, Chess and Community Club, provides free tutoring in her neighborhood

Flora Lechtrek (Central)-throws the shot put on track team, varsity volleyball, honors and Advanced Placement student
