2017 FFE Award Reception
"All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and so gorgeous at the end." Robin Sharma, leadership author
The 2017 president of our FFE Board of Trustees, Meg Easom Hines, shared the above quote at our first meeting of the school year, and it has certainly become a mantra for us. We have made some tweaks to our grants process (going fully online) as well as amending our bylaws (changing the term of trustees from January/December to August/July to follow the academic calendar).
But no changes were more evident to the community at large than those surrounding our Award Reception held on Monday, October 9th. Earlier this year trustees decided to shift from the traditional banquet format to a more inclusive and festive cocktail party following the program portion of the evening. Our new venue was The Georgian Hall with catering by South Bar and Kitchen. The newly renovated ballroom was gorgeous and the food delicious--and plentiful!
What remained the same--and was as usual the highlight of the evening--was hearing from the 15 award winners themselves. Each shared heartfelt remarks about their love for students and colleagues and appreciation for family support and encouragement. In addition the FFE secured the services of local videographer Brandon Cullum to produce a video of a sampling of Clarke County School District students describing their favorite teacher(s). Click here to go directly to the FFE website home page to view this inspiring glimpse of "our kids".
