Juniperberry - Juniperus Communis
Cupressaceae family

Who likes Gin? Did you know Juniper Berries are used to flavour the nations favourite tipple?
A wonderful oil to protect the home or a sacred space, it is believed that Juniper was burned to ward off evil spirits.
Juniper is
anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antirheumatic, antispasmodic, stimulating, astringent, diuretic and aphrodisiac.
It blends well with Cedarwood, Vetiver, Lavender, Clary Sage, Cypress, Rosemary, citrus oils & many more.
Mental Health Benefits:
An uplifting but relaxing oil - Juniperberry gives strength to anyone feeling emotionally drained, helping to cleanse the mind & revitalise. It is great for anxiety, nervous tension & stress-related conditions.
How to use:
Mix with a carrier oil such as grapeseed (as a general rule use 1 drop of essential oil to 2 mls carrier oil based on a healthy adult.
Bathing. Add 5-10 drops to a full bath and agitate well, the oil can be dissolved first in a teaspoon of bubble bath, carrier oil or full fat milk.
Diffuser. Add to a diffuser or oil burner or add a few drops to a small bowl of water and place on a radiator or pop a few drops on a tissue.
Diffuser - Oil Burner Recipe:
If you’re feeling emotionally drained add a blend of Juniper, Bergamot & Frankincense to your diffuser or oil burner. The number of drops will depend on the size of room so start with less (I’d suggest 2 drops Bergamot, 3 drops Juniper, 1 drop Frankincense to start) then you can increase if required.
Physical Health Benefits:
It has an affinity with the genito-urinary system and is useful for relieving menstrual cramps, water retention and cystitis. A detoxifying oil it is great to use in massage over areas of cellulite. It is also beneficial to the digestive system helping to ease indigestion, mild stomach upsets and flatulence.
How to use:
Use in massage or a bath as per guidelines above.
Recipe for a detox bath (if you’ve had one too many gins):
Mix 3 tablespoons of Epsom Salts with 3 drops Lemon, 3 drops Juniper & 2 drops Rosemary (avoid Rosemary if you have high blood pressure) and add to a hot bath.
The oil must be avoided during pregnancy & must not be used on people with kidney disease. Use in moderation at 1% dilution.

Mel's Weekly Challenge

Today was the first day of my second week of training for CAB. One of the topics on discussion was the fact that we should not be judgemental of anyone who comes through the doors. Well, having done quite a lot of diversity training in the past, of course I decided that I knew all about that,  and of course I was not judgemental about anyone or anything.

I felt quite proud and elated to realise this and a little tiny part of me, for a second, felt better than anyone else! WELL!!! In that instant, it was like the Goddess was just pointing a finger at me saying “Oh really!!”
So all this evening I’ve been thinking about this. The truth is – we are all judgemental to some degree. And I believe that’s actually fairly natural. We see a situation and instinct compels us to analyse it and from the evidence available, make a decision as to whether its a safe situation or not! That’s how the human race survived all those years ago.
There’s a part of us that automatically tends to judge what they’re like based on our first impressions. How many of you have seen someone covered in piercings, tattoos and wearing all black (for example) and make a judgement as to whether you want to be associated with that person, or whether they’re on benefits, or drink, or drugs, or violent?
I freely admit that I have. We’re human after all and part of it is an inbuilt trigger that we all have. But how much of it is influenced by society. We see an Asian man getting on the same plane as us with a backpack and a copy of the Quran and assume that he’s up to no good! I ashamedly admit to this a good few years ago. But is this because we are influenced these days via the media about various groups of people – those with a different ethnicity, the unemployed, the religious, the disabled, the elderly, the young and so on
So just for this week, I challenge you to look twice at someone and ask yourself if those pre – judgements are at all valid, or if they could, actually, not be correct at all. There’s no right or wrong here – its just a wee challenge to make you think about the inbuilt beliefs that we have, and whether or not we need to consider widening those. With love and light Mel x

The positive aspects of Wands are all about thinking, planning, vitality, virility and enthusiasm. On the negative side its more like weariness, exaustion and despair. That being said, you can use the positive wands for attraction spells and the more negative ones to repel.

This Weeks Recipe - Pork and Beans

Here is something different to try and I promise that it tastes so much better than it sounds.
Ingredients to serve four

4 pork chops
Butchers spice (ask your butcher for some)
2 Large Oranges
1 Large Onion
1 large tin of baked beans
half a cup of Demerara sugar
4 ounces of butter
Open the baked beans and empty the tin into a shallow casserole dish. Shake butchers spice over both sides of the pork chops and lay the chops side by side over the beans.
Remove the skin from the onion and slice it into thin rings.
Slice the oranges (skin on) into thick slices.
Layer a slice of onion then a slice of orange over each chop - you can have two or three slices of ech on each chop.
Sprinkle the demerara sugar over the top of the entire dish, and dot with chunks of butter.
Place the dish in th eoven and bake for about 30 minutes on a medium heat.
Remove the dish from the oven and flip the pork chops to the top of the mixture and put the casserole back into the oven and continue to cook to crisp the fat on the chop.
Serve with (skin on) baby boiled potatioes crushed or chopped with chopped spring onions.
Sorry No pictures - havent made it for ages but might get some pork chops this week.

Your Weekly Horoscope from Soraya
23-29  June 2019

Horoscope 23rd – 29th June

This is not likely to be a particularly good period Aries and you may find that you shed a few tears. Your expenditure may exceed your income and this may cause further anxiety at an already difficult time.

While Venus and Mars dance the dance of love you may find that you become more active physically and emotionally. That said you should find that this is an excellent time to seek the society of others, especially that of the opposite sex.

A fortunate influence flows into your chart Gemini and it should bring about various pleasant and beneficial changes. Your normal routine may be disrupted however it will be by choice rather than necessity.

Picture the scene, Neptune with sleeves and laughing up them as you try to figure out just what the heck is going on. Good luck with that then. Hospitals and health centres may be significant and water is likely to be a feature this week.

Be on your guard around  people who are new to you while the moon squares up to Neptune this week and do not undertake anything you do not fully understand. Keep your eyes open so that you will not be imposed upon or deceived.

This is not a good time for social matters. Postpone visiting or dealing with others as far as possible to avoid social friction or having your feelings and harmony affected by others. Do not allow the thought of change to dominate.

Jupiter slip slides into your chart between the 22 and 25th of June bringing you opportunities to improve your current situation or surroundings. At this time if you need assistance in any area of your life all you have to do is ask.

Situations in the workplace could cause some concern or disruption  due to the current position of the planets in your chart. Check and double check anything that has your name attached to it and perhaps you will be able to avoid the fallout.

The Moon and Saturn dominate your chart this week Sagittarius and this will give you the motivation to be more discerning about financial matters. You will find that you think more about needs rather than desires.

Mercury will be in your chart until the 28th of June and this will have a stimulating effect on your intellect and enabling you to display latent talents. YOU can make this a fortunate and successful period.

You, aquarius will be blessed this week as the Moon and Sun cohabit in your chart. This is an extremely favourable influence and you will find that you are happier and feel good even if you don’t understand why. Spend time  with friends and enjoy this period.

The position of the Moon and Mars may stimulate your energy and enthusiasm, and encourage you to take a chance or two. This is fine as long as you act sensibly as far as financial matters are concerned.
I'm leaving the morning Ritual here for new members and as a reminder that if you remember the Goddess in your life She will remember you.
The Morning Ritual
Stand in front of a window and take a deep purifying in breath and visualise that you are breathing in sparkling light energy. Raise your hands high above your head and then clasp your hands together in the prayer position. Draw your hands down in front of your face, still clasped, down past your heart and then separate your hands and spread them as far apart as you can to each side. Visualise all your chakra points being activated and say the following prayer as you do so.
You who are the source of all power and good
Please show me what I need to know when I need to know it
Help me to listen with understanding and speak with wisdom
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
And the wisdom to change the things  I can change.
Please show me what I need to know so that I may understand.
The world is an abundant place and
I am grateful for those gifts I have already been given
And I am open and ready to receive
those gifts that are waiting to come to me
Visualise a purple cloak of protection being placed on your shoulders and draw your hands across your chest as though you are drawing the cloak over you.
You are now ready to begin your day and you can use this ritual at any time especially if you feel insecure anxious or worried.
