A Word from Momma Witch especially for Loki

Im repeating this from last week for those of you who just jump to horoscopes (Loki hahaha)
Anyway, to free up time for me to concentrate on my novel I will not be doing any horoscopes until it's finished, however, I thought that you might like to share my journey so I will serialise it with a new chapter every week.
I would love to hear your comments. Of course, there is no guarantee that the serialised episodes that you see will be the finished version because I always go back in, take out and add as things come to me, but you'll get the jist of it. If you have ideas you would like included you can throw them across - no promises that I will include them but if I do you will get a special mention. Nuff said ... on with the newsletter. )O(
This Week's Crystals
Calcite comes in a variety of colours from white to yellow deep orange and green. It's known as the stone of wisdom and balance and it promotes mental harmony. It deepens intellect and offers wisdom and psychic abilities.
Chakra: In orange - Solar Plexus - Be guided by the colour for the appropriate Chakra.
Often deep orange to red, Carnelian is a stone of protection, it protects against envy, fear and anger and helps to increase physical energy, personal power, creativity and compassion. Carnelian also stabilizes the energy in the home and protects the environment from negative energy.
Chakra: Sacral
I have used this stone in the past for a friend who suffered several miscarriages. My advice was to carry the stone whenever she could and in moments when she felt vulnerable, to visualise the energy and the colour of the carnelian wrapped around her baby keeping it safe. It's a happy memory because that baby is now in his twenty's and has graduated with honours.

Mel’s Weekly Challenge

So next week, I go away on holiday! Oh, I am so looking forward to it. Lazing by the pool, long sangrias and poolside snacks, slow and lazy evening walks along the beach in my long flowing skirts and sandals... (yes I know I sound like an advertisement or a shampoo ad!!). But oh the anticipation!
The reality, however, may be very different with calls of ‘orca’ and harpoons appearing at poolside....but nonetheless I’m so going to enjoy a wee break away.
I’ve already run all of the scenarios through my head and I know what every day will be like. I know what the people will be like, the food, the drink....and so on. I’ve run conversations through my head with random people and already picked out the gifts that we will bring back!
Ridiculous? Absolutely – because the scenarios I’ve imagined probably won’t happen, we cant control the weather and we have no idea what the food or the people will be like! And yet – the time and energy I’ve put into the dreaming! And the truth is, this anticipation isn’t particularly harmful. That sort of daydreaming makes me feel good, happy and relaxed
Having said that, there have been other occasions when I’ve had a situation, without all the facts and spent hours and hours running through scenarios and conversations within my own head, having those arguments, debates and all sorts without them actually ever happening.
And the fact about it is – that it really affects us. Those arguments that we have, mentally create the same chemical response in our bodies as an actual argument itself. That telling off we are mentally giving someone releases stress hormones such as cortisol that we have to work hard to dissipate. And it really gives us a downer for the day!
The Challenge
So this week’s mini-challenge is when you find yourself mentally overthinking a situation or a conversation, if you can, consciously stop yourself and start to imagine something happy and fun instead – and see the difference it makes to your day!
With love and light and plenty sunscreen. See you in a couple of weeks. Mel xx

Vetiver – Vetiveria Zizanoides
from the Poaceae family

Buy your essential oils direct from Soraya here

Ah, Vetiver…. known in India and Sri Lanka as ‘the oil of tranquillity’. It is grown in India during the tropical rainy season to protect against soil erosion. The roots of the grass have long been used in the East as a perfume and to protect domestic animals against vermin. The fibres of the grass are woven into aromatic matting.
With its deep earthy & woody aroma, Vetiver is a sedating, grounding & relaxing oil. It also has antiseptic & antispasmodic properties. It blends well with Sandalwood, Rose, Patchouli, Jasmine, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, & Clary Sage.
Mental Health/Nervous System Benefits:
Vetiver is a deeply relaxing oil so very useful in massage, baths & vaporisation in cases of nervous debility, depression, insomnia & nervous tension.
It can protect against oversensitivity and for times when you are being affected by other people’s emotions. It can help to relieve deeply felt fears and tensions. Its earthy scent has also been known to be sexually arousing.
Physical Health Benefits:
In skincare, it is useful for mature, dry, oily and irritated skin. It strengthens the connective tissues and promotes skin regeneration. It is also helpful for acne and wounds.
It can help relieve muscular aches and pains, arthritis, rheumatism, sprains & stiffness.
The thing I love most about Vetiver is how much the scent reminds me of forest walks. If, like me, you enjoy earthy & woody scents, here is a little diffuser blend to try...
Magical Forest Diffuser Blend:
1 drop Vetiver
1 drop Patchouli
2 drops Cedarwood
2 drops Lavender
Spiritual Benefits:
Use for grounding, protection and calming an overactive root chakra. Anoint and balance the heart chakra.
How to use:
Massage - Mix with a carrier oil such as grapeseed for massage (as a general rule use 1 drop of essential oil to 2 mls carrier oil based on a healthy adult.
Bath - Add 5-10 drops to a full bath and agitate well, the oil can be dissolved first in a teaspoon of bubble bath, carrier oil or full-fat milk.
Vaporisation - Add to a diffuser or oil burner. Alternatively, add a few drops to a small bowl of water and place on a radiator or pop a few drops on a tissue and inhale.
Steam Inhalation - Add around 5 drops of oil to a bowl of hot water, cover the head and bowl with a towel and breathe deeply for a minute - then repeat. Always remember to close the eyes when using this method.
Skin Lotion - For skin issues oil can be added to a plain skin lotion for topical use. Or to a more nourishing oil such as Jojoba or Apricot Kernel oil. Follow the same dilution guidelines as massage.
Compress – put 4 drops of oil into a bowl of hot or very cold water, take a flannel/facecloth and soak up the oil floating on the surface without fully immersing the cloth. Wring out the excess water and apply to the affected area.
Note: Vetiver is a very thick oil and, when using, it can sometimes feel like it’s never going to come out of the bottle. A little tip to speed things up is to place your bottle of oil in a bowl of warm water for a while before using.

This Weeks Recipe - Get Stuffed with Marrow

1 whole marrow
1 pound of shoulder steak minced

(You can use minced lamb, but it can be a bit greasy, or minced chicken if you prefer).
1 Red Pepper (chopped finely)

1 Tin Chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon of Cumin
1 teaspoon of fresh mint (chopped finely)
A generous sprinkle of salt and pepper
1 pint of white or cheese sauce (nutmeg is a lovely addition to the sauce
Split the marrow lengthwise and de-seeding it by placing a soup spoon in at the widest edge of the point where the seeds begin. The spoon should go in easily and then all you have to do is drag it down the length of the marrow and the seeds will detach in a roll. Place the prepared marrow in the dish that you are going to bake it in and set it to one side.
Place the mince in a deep frying pan on medium heat and break it up as it browns. Add the chopped red pepper, the cumin, mint, salt and pepper and finally the tin of chopped tomatoes. Allow this to cook through for about ten minutes.
Basic White Sauce
Equal quantities of butter and plain flour are the basis any flour-based sauce.
2-3 ounces of butter
2-3 ounces of plain flour
1 pint of milk
Salt and pepper to season.
Place the butter in a non-stick pan and let it melt slowly. When the butter has melted add the flour and stir with a wooden spoon. Don’t panic. The flour will start to cook immediately and pull together forming lumps. Don’t panic. Keep stirring and gradually add a splash of milk and keep stirring. As the mix thickens add more milk and stir. Repeat this process until you have a nice thick lump-free sauce.
From this point onwards you can add a little white wine for a béchamel, fresh breadcrumbs for a bread sauce, grated cheese for a cheese sauce, or parsley or other herbs for parsley or herb sauce.

Spoon the minced meat and vegetables into the hollow where the seeds were and then cover with the prepared sauce. Dont worry if the sauce spills over into the cooking tray, as long as you dont have your oven to high the sauce will be fine.

I like to grate nutmeg and black pepper over the sauce before baking. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes at around 175 degrees. Serve with Garlic Bread and or side salad.

This is one thing that I just can't do without. The Moon helps me to make choices and decisions and know when the best time is for any craft work. It's not just craft work though. Knowing the favourable or unfavourable positions of the Moon can help with everyday matters too - I even have an app on my phone called ILuna - if you like to have the benefit of knowing the position of the Moon at any given time then download it or follow this link and calculate the Moon chart for wherever you are in the world.

The Morning Ritual
Stand in front of a window and take a deep purifying in breath and visualise that you are breathing in sparkling light energy. Raise your hands high above your head and then clasp your hands together in the prayer position. Draw your hands down in front of your face, still clasped, down past your heart and then separate your hands and spread them as far apart as you can to each side. Visualise all your chakra points being activated and say the following prayer as you do so.
You who are the source of all power and good
Please show me what I need to know when I need to know it
Help me to listen with understanding and speak with wisdom
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
And the wisdom to change the things  I can change.
Please show me what I need to know so that I may understand.
The world is an abundant place and
I am grateful for those gifts I have already been given
And I am open and ready to receive
those gifts that are waiting to come to me
Visualise a purple cloak of protection being placed on your shoulders and draw your hands across your chest as though you are drawing the cloak over you.
You are now ready to begin your day and you can use this ritual at any time especially if you feel insecure anxious or worried.
