Void off Course

I was speaking to one of our members recently about spellcasting and performing rituals and I realised that she didn't understand what Void off Course referred to so I feel an explanation is due for others who may also be unsure.
Firstly when performing any kind of magick you should think about the position of the moon is it getting bigger, growing (waxing) or is it getting smaller (waning)?
To draw things towards you (invoke) perform your ritual when the moon is growing -waxing.
To send things away from you, to repel things, perform your ritual when the moon is growing smaller, waning.
The Moon takes approximately 28 days to complete a cycle and as it does so it passes through the 12 sings of the zodiac spending approximately 2 days in each sign, but there is a point when the moon is neither in one sign or the other and during that particular phase we say that the moon is void off course.  If for example I wanted to cast a love spell by writing it out and then throwing the written spell into a flowing stream (using the element of water akin to emotions) that would be a good thing, but I wouldn't throw my written spell into a whirlpool - who knows what would happen to it - it would just spin round and round out of control. That's exactly what would happen if you perform magick when the moon is void off course. Its almost guaranteed to go wrong.
The best time for important magick is when the moon is in your sign and you can create the ritual to your need - so if the moon is getting smaller as it moves through your sign you would banish loneliness, but if it is growing while it is in your sign you would perform your ritual to attract love or friendship.
Check the Lunar chart at the bottom and use that to find the best time to carry out any spell or ritual.

In Ancient

Mental Health Benefits
Frankincense is
a warming, calming and uplifting oil, it is great for sadness, depression, anxiety, nervous tension and stress-related conditions.
How to use: Mix with a carrier oil such as grapeseed for massage (as a general rule use 1 drop of essential oil to 2mls carrier oil based on a healthy adult).
Add 5-10 drops to a full bath and agitate well. The oil can be dissolved first in a teaspoon of bubble bath, carrier oil
 or full-fat milk.
Add to a diffuser or oil burner.
Alternatively, add a few drops to a small bowl of water and place on a radiator or pop a few drops on a tissue.

Mel's Weekly Challenge

This week, my tap in the kitchen burst. It was still usable but only with a mere dribble of water to stop it spraying outwards in all directions from the tap head (it’s one of those mono, extendable shower tap thingys!).

The top had split and when I put the water on everything in a one-foot radius got an unwanted shower!
It had been dodgy for a while and so I had called a plumber – or in fact, Facebook Messaged one. She had advised she would be visiting at a certain time, but when that time had come and gone, I went back onto Messenger to find out what had happened..
To my dismay, the messages that had originally had a name had defaulted to “Facebook User” and prevented me from sending another message.
I went to look for the company page and nothing was found. So that could only mean one thing
.... I had been blocked for some reason.
My hackles rose, I allowed myself to get annoyed, phoned my other half and had a jolly good rant! I then proceeded to compose a new post bemoaning the company and unreliable plumbers! I did post it but literally five minutes later I felt such an urge to remove the post immediately – which I did.
I called the number and guess what? It went straight to voicemail – proving that for some reason the plumber didn’t want my business and had shunned me for goodness knows what. I left a (genuinely) nice and kind message asking if there was a problem and if so could they please tell me what – and literally five minutes later, she called me back – very concerned and advised that the page being down was the first she knew about it, and that there was absolutely no problem! So all was well with the world!
So, all the signs pointed to one thing, yet the facts proved otherwise! I could have done her company so much damage if I had continued on and left that post! I hadn’t taken time to consider what the actual FACTS were and allowed feeling and emotion to take over. It turned out that the FACTS proved that my FEELINGS were unwarranted – and I had wasted so much energy!
So my challenge this week is...
when something arises to get your blood boiling – my challenge is to just take a breath, and work out if the facts justify the feelings, or if, like me –
you are wasting energy on something that is easily resolved by knowing the full picture! With love and masses of light, Mel xx

Flower Associations for Spell Casting

I am fortunate enough to have a garden and I love to plant a variety of common and rare flowers. I am blessed by their beauty, their scent, and in another less obvious way too. As the petals begin to fall I harvest them, lay them out to dry and when they are completely dry I label and store them for spell work. I also collect flowers from Bindweed (High John the Conqueror) clover, dandelion, and many others. Click here for a list of flowers and their meanings  (only available via this link)

This Weeks Recipe - Something Savoury

Mediterranean Tomatoes and Onion

Ingredients
6 tomatoes
1 onion diced finely
Olive oil
1 piece of garlic
Salt and ground black pepper.
1 tablespoon of tomato puree
1 tablespoon of chopped basil, oregano or parsley
Method
Put a generous amount of oil in your frying pan and add the diced onions and the garlic. Fry them slowly for 5 minutes or as long as it takes for them to soften completely and do not allow them to brown.
Remove the skin and the core from the tomatoes. You can do this by sticking a fork in the core of the tomato and submerging it in a jug of boiling water or holding it over a gas flame. Chop the skinned tomatoes into small pieces and add them to your frying pan with your herbs. Continue to fry gently for about five minutes covered with a lid, stirring once or twice and then stir in the tomato puree. Cook for a further five minutes and add I little water if the mixture is too thick. Draw a spoon across the bottom of the pan and if the mix holds together but is still juicy you have the correct consistency. For a breakfast or lunchtime treat (if you like poached eggs), make a well in the middle and break in an egg or two. Cover with a lid and leave until the egg is cooked to your liking.

Your Weekly Horoscope from Soraya
9-15 June 2019

Aries

You are probably glad to see the back of last week, rightly so and this coming week, you will be pleased to know, is full of promise as far as advancing yourself and your interests, but do not be too pushy in the process, (hard for Aries).

Taurus

Its all about communicating this week for you Taurus, speak your mind, ask the questions that you need answers to. There may be some new things that you have to deal with but with the right information it should be a piece of cake.

Gemini

This is a period of general success, and you Gemini should push all your affairs to the utmost if you want to achieve. Think positive and do whatever needs to be done when it needs to be done, adopt the right frame of mind, and you reap rewards for your efforts.

Cancer

This is a really positive period and you should feel blessed by the influences of the Moon in its current position with the Sun. These conditions tend to bring a sense of happiness and well-being into your life.

Leo

Financial benefits are likely this week Leo largely due to your reputation for excellence, (don’t let that go to your head). Take things easy between the 8th and 11th and avoid “nit picking” and all will go well.

Virgo

If a fresh start is required then make it happen and try to avoid being overly emotional. Sometimes you have to empty your cup before fresh experiences can be added. Apart from anything else try to avoid arguments.

Libra

You may not feel like it at the moment but better days are on the horizon. Use this period to think things through and before you know it the sun will begin to shine on you again and you will find an outlet for your feelings through forming relationships.

Scorpio

Be on your guard around new people until the 13th Scorpio while the Moon and Neptune conspire and don’t be too ready to listen or believe everything that you hear. Some people have motives that are hard to understand.

Sagittarius

Breathe deeply and breathe again because so much will be happening this week that it is likely to take your breath away. The Moon and Pluto are making plans that will make this a time of period of important changes.

Capricorn

A lovely period approaches you Capricorn and you can bask in the glow of the Moon and Venus as they sway together in harmony. The affectionate romantic side of your nature is likely to be exposed and financial affairs will improve.

Aquarius

Mars enters your 8th house (between the 7th and the 10th) and this could stimulate a surprise or two  and with the Moon and Mercury shedding their influence you will think more than do. This could cause some confusion as you struggle to make up your mind.

Pisces

This week is likely to find you feeling as though you don’t know what wrong with yourself, however the chances are there is nothing wrong and its all in the mind. Perhaps a pampering day where you can just lie back and chill out would be the best medicine.
I'm leaving the morning Ritual here for new members and as a reminder that if you remember the Goddess in your life She will remember you.
The Morning Ritual
Stand in front of a window and take a deep purifying in breath and visualise that you are breathing in sparkling light energy. Raise your hands high above your head and then clasp your hands together in the prayer position. Draw your hands down in front of your face, still clasped, down past your heart and then separate your hands and spread them as far apart as you can to each side. Visualise all your chakra points being activated and say the following prayer as you do so.

You who are the source of all power and good
Please show me what I need to know when I need to know it
Help me to listen with understanding and speak with wisdom
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
And the wisdom to change the things  I can change.
Please show me what I need to know so that I may understand.
The world is an abundant place and
I am grateful for those gifts I have already been given
And I am open and ready to receive
those gifts that are waiting to come to me

Visualise a purple cloak of protection being placed on your shoulders and draw your hands across your chest as though you are drawing the cloak over you.
You are now ready to begin your day and you can use this ritual at any time especially if you feel insecure anxious or worried.
