Impacts Caused by COVID-19
The Texas Health Education Service (TXHES) is working closely with TMDSAS and its member institutions to develop strategies and update procedures to respond to impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check back to our newsroom for further updates.

Changes to the EY 2021 Application
|
|
The Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service would like to share the following updates to the application for Entry Year 2021.
Highlights include:
- Demographics Section
- Birth and Sex Options
- This question asks an applicant’s sex and gives the option to decline to answer. Additionally, it asks the applicant’s gender identity and preferred pronouns.
- Supporting Documents
- Transcripts
- Applicants will no longer send transcripts to TMDSAS at the time of submission. Instead, TMDSAS will automatically send messages to applicants once validation begins.
- Veterinary School Applicants
- Submission Deadline
- The veterinary school deadline for applicants is now September 15th, 2020. Please consult the TAMU CVM website for more information.
April 2020 will also see the launch of the new TMDSAS website!

TMDSAS EY 2021 Application Timeline
|
|
The following statistical reports are now available to advisors and applicants on the TMDSAS and TXHES websites.
- The Applicant and Matriculant Statistics include Gender, State of Residency, and Age Distributions. It also includes overall GPA, BCPM GPA, and MCAT/DAT distribution and averages.
- MCAT and GPA Combined shows the relationship between MCAT/DAT and GPA scores for applicants and matriculants, as well as a heat map indicating trends in each pool.
- The 10-Year Trends worksheet includes total and average gender, MCAT/DAT scores, and overall GPA scores since Entry Year 2009.

- Mid-April: TMDSAS EY2021 Application Handbook released
- Late April: New TMDSAS website Launches
- May 1: TMDSAS Application Opens at 8 am Central Time
- May 15: Offers of admission may only be extended to EY2020 applicants who are not holding a seat at another institution.
