Political Education Reading Group: Red State Revolt

Tonight (Tuesday, July 23rd) join Miami DSA's Political Education Working Group to discuss Eric Blanc's Red State Revolt: The Teachers' Strikes and Working-Class Politics.

The book offers a sharp summary of last spring’s teacher insurgencies and draws valuable lessons from which we can learn.

It is currently on sale at Verso Books, along with a number of other great titles.  If you would like a free version of the ebook, please shoot us an email and we can provide you a copy.

Hope to see you there!

Labor Organizing 101: How to Form a Union

Miami DSA and Florida Future Labor Leaders are working in coalition on a series of workshops to offer you the resources and in-person training to form a union in your workplace. The first will be held this Thursday, July 25th. We will walk you through each step of the process, while also offering a history of the labor struggles in South Florida. It's a history you'll be proud to join.

Pre-Convention Delegation Meeting

Our delegates to DSA's National Convention will be holding an open meeting this Sunday (July 28th).  We will be discussing our voting intentions for National Political Committee candidates, as well as all resolutions, amendments that will be brought to the floor.  We encourage members who feel strongly about items being voted on to make your case to our delegates.

We will be meeting at the Starbucks on NE 63rd and Biscayne at 4pm.  Hope to see you there!

Help us get to the Convention!

Every two years, DSA chapters from across the country come together to make big decisions for the future of the organization. This year's convention is taking place August 2-4 in Atlanta. Our delegates have already paid a lot out of pocket to make it there, and we would urge you to consider giving to our GoFundMe to support them.

2020 Ballot Initiatives Canvassing

We continue our petition drive for possible 2020 state-wide ballot initiatives including Medicaid Expansion, $15/hour Minimum Wage and Cannabis Legalization. Stay tuned for the date and time of our next canvass– it will most likely take place next weekend!

Donate to Miami DSA!

For nearly the entirety of DSA's history in Miami, we've organized, served our community, offered trainings and educational events with virtually no money. You can help us expand and sustain our work by becoming a monthly sustainer or giving a one-time donation. Thank you so much for your support.
