Due to the concerns surrounding  Covid19 and a  heightened concern about the spread of infection at group gatherings, Falls Church Arts is postponing the Opening Night Reception of “A Woman’s Journey” that had been scheduled for Saturday evening, March 14.  Please note that the exhibition itself will remain open to the public during regular gallery hours for individual enjoyment as planned, March 15-April 19.
As much as we want to celebrate this very special exhibit for many reasons, the health of our artist and patrons is most important so, we are simply postponing the group gathering of the opening event until we reassess and it seems more prudent. Like many others, we are taking extra measures in the gallery to insure the safety of our visitors and invite you to view the show during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 11-6 and Sunday 11-4.
Thank You for your understanding and support.
As part of its Women's History Month programming, Falls Church Arts is honored to have the work of Joanna Campbell Blake featured at the FCA Gallery. Joanna, a gifted sculptor who was married to local resident Isaac Blake, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Italy on May 22, 2016, just as her career in figurative sculpture had taken off.

Her design for the work displayed in the FCA Gallery, "Virtus," was selected as a finalist in the competition for a monument, to be located on the grounds of the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, commemorating the struggles and accomplishment of Virginia's women throughout the history of the Commonwealth. Guided by her extensive research and thorough study of her subject matter, Joanna's artwork was influenced by the power of historical figures and events while drawing from the social, historical, and physical context of the site.
