L.A.’s public parks have been a lifeline for us during the pandemic, and we’ve long wanted to do a book about these vital outdoor resources as places for exploration, celebration, education, recreation, and activism. We asked Angelenos to share original artwork of the parks that mattered most to them. The result is We Heart L.A. Parks, which celebrates these beloved places by featuring more than 50 public parks within the city of Los Angeles with amazing illustrations, personal stories, and fun activities, including two colorful fold-outs: an L.A. parks map and an L.A. Park Adventures board game. It is a coloring and activity book for all ages by contributors of all ages.
The book will be released at the end of February, but you can reserve your copy now. The cover line art is of Everett Triangle Park by Jennifer Cuellar, who also contributed to our We Heart P-22 book, and colored by our art director and cover designer Miriam Blier. Visit the parks featured in the book in person using our We Heart L.A. Parks map!
A percentage of profits from the book will be donated to the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, whose work contributes to the well-being of our neighborhoods through improving access and equity to public parks.
