September 17, 2020: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and the advancement of workforce development and inclusion

This week we're celebrating the kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15) recognizing the culture and contributions of Latin Americans. Join us in celebration led by Latinos in Transit (LIT) and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) over coming weeks. In addition, watch for new workforce development initiatives, including the TDC-MIT Infrastructure Summit and an exciting announcement from the Vehicle Innovation Center.
New Flyer supports LIT's Juntos Podemos 2020 Virtual Symposium in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
New Flyer has partnered with Latinos in Transit (LIT) to support its 2020 Virtual Symposium - Juntos Podemos - dedicated to the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Join industry leaders in critical dialogue on building opportunity, addressing mobility needs of the Latino and Hispanic communities, celebrating diversity, and the importance of equity and inclusion post COVID-19.
 
LIT Virtual 2020 Symposium:
Juntos Podemos

Registration is required. Juntos Podemos will feature esteemed industry leaders, including:

  • Carlos Braceras, Chair of the Transportation Research Board and Executive Director of Utah Department of Transportation

There is no cost to register. In lieu of registration fees, donations to LIT are graciously accepted.

This month, COMTO will Celebrar el Progreso! (Celebrate Progress!) in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month and in celebration of Hispanic Americans and their significant accomplishments. Join COMTO October 8 for a virtual celebration featuring panellists Alva Carrasco, Latinos in Transit and WSP; Nuria Fernandez, APTA and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority; Carmen Garcia, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Moderator); and Diana Mendes, HNTB.

TDC-MIT TRANSportation & Infrastructure Summit: Advancing Mobility
On October 12, the annual Transportation Diversity Council (TDC) - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Virtual Transportation & Infrastructure Summit comes to life featuring panels, interactive sessions, and speakers across the industry focused on workforce development, diversity, and inclusion for up and coming young leaders.
