In 1987, the U.S. declared March as National Women’s History Month. Over the next few weeks and throughout March, we will continue to recognize and celebrate women's history, while sharing the stories of incredible women leading across NFI and helping to advance sustainable mobility.

ADL introduces next generation hydrogen bus; reaches new range milestone

Last week, NFI subsidiary Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) introduced its next-generation hydrogen double deck bus – the H2.0 – which will deliver zero-emission range of up to 300 miles.

Leveraging more than 25 years of hydrogen experience from New Flyer and powered by a Ballard fuel cell power module, the H2.0 is expected to be on the road late 2021. With the H2.0, ADL continues to support workforce development through upskilling in clean vehicle technology, while delivering to federal net-zero targets through the carbon-neutral electrification of high-mileage bus routes.

Celebrating the San Diego MTS transition to cleaner air

Last week, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) accomplished a major step in its pursuit of cleaner air. On February 26, MTS retired the last of its diesel buses and celebrated the addition of 24 MCI compressed natural gas commuter coaches to its fleet.

CNG coaches provide an enhanced riding experience and reduce NOx emissions by over 90% compared to diesel counterparts – delivering immediate air quality and environmental benefits. Congratulations MTS, on this leap toward more sustainable transit.

Keeping passengers safe with advanced onboard air and surface purification technology

NFI subsidiary NFI Parts® has announced that GO Transit, in the City of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has equipped its fleet with the Proactive Air and Surface Purification System (PASP) to keep passengers safe.

Creating advanced purification through high energy clusters, and delivering critical virus deactivation and increasing air quality up to 96%, the PASP system continuously and safely sanitizes onboard air and surfaces.

Applauding industry action on racial equity

Today, we recognize and applaud the American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) establishment of its Racial Equity Action Plan.

Introduced by the APTA Diversity and Inclusion Council's Racial Equity Working Group, the APTA Racial Equity Action Plan is blueprint of activities, metrics, and desired outcomes driven by five main goals. The Plan will spearhead a widescale effort to support APTA members in racial equity practices, and the continued pursuit of building equity, diversity, and inclusion across the transportation industry.
