Update From the Trails

It's been a while! I hope your summer hiking season was a great one. Lot's of things going on at HikingGuy that I'm excited about, including a bunch of guides for Yosemite and the Grand Canyon that will be up on the site shortly. Here's what's new on HikingGuy.com →

Gabrielino National Recreation Trail Guide
I've gotten a lot of feedback that folks want more backpacking trips, so I've added the Gabrielino, which you might be familiar with if you have hiked Mt Wilson from Chantry Flat. The trail is 28 miles long and goes from Chantry Flat to Alatadena. If you're looking to dip your toe into backpacking, it's a great overnight trip to try as a starter. If you need overnight gear recommendations, I have them on my gear page too.
Guided Hikes
I've started doing a lot more guided hikes with individuals, event groups, and organizations. My hikes are all customized for the client and are limited to small personalized groups. If you need some help on a hike, or work somewhere that you'd like to see a group hike (maybe instead of happy hour or other standard corporate events), please contact me. These hikes have been great fun for everyone. You can learn more about my guided hikes here and you can see my reviews here.
From the internet-world-wide-web-thing:
I've got the Google blues... you can help...
Every so often, Google updates their algorithm, and when it happened this September the website took a hit, really affecting the number of people who are able find my guides. You can help by:
  • Linking to my website guides from any blogs or websites that you may have.
  • Referring me up as a source if you know anyone writing about hiking or the outdoors.
  • Having me write for your publication or blog (as a guest author).
I appreciate all the support that you guys have given me over the years; I'm so grateful. I'm looking forward to getting more and more guides up so that you can have more and more adventures out on the trail.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again....
