Join our FutureMaking Forums
 
Our community’s active economy - including health & wellness, sport, recreation - will be central to our city’s recovery from COVID-19. To help, we are launching weekly ActiveCITY FutureMaking Forums. These forums are one-hour virtual gatherings with leaders from across our active economy. These forums will offer insights and a platform to discuss the role that the active economy can play in leading Calgary’s bounce back from COVID-19.

NCCP Coach Initiation in Sport

The NCCP Coach Initiation in Sport module introduces new or experienced coaches to the foundational skills of coaching, such as long-term athlete development, ethics, coaching motivation, and athlete safety and wellness. It also teaches the key coaching concepts and educational tools that are the foundation of the NCCP.

This one-hour NCCP module is available online through the Locker at a cost of $15. Coaches who sign up on Decathlon Community can take the module for free before June 30, 2020. Visit Decathlon Community to get started!

Is eating welll too expensive?

Have you heard people say that they would eat well but they just don’t have the money to pay for good food? Groceries are certainly a big part of our monthly budget, however, a meta-analysis looking at healthier eating patterns identified that it was about $2.00 Cdn more per day [read more] in an urban context. So what strategies can the average person employ to eat well on a budget? Check out Health Canada and Harvard Health for ideas and suggestions to keep you and your wallet healthy.

A breathing technique to help you relax 

The practice of yoga incorporates many separate breathing techniques (above and beyond the coordinated breathing you do during yoga routines) that can help relax you and release tension. And many of these techniques can be done anytime, anywhere — not just during yoga class.
