Getting Groceries During Quarantine

Quarantine and social distancing is making some of our easiest tasks more challenging. As we are adjusting to our new normal there are a few things we can do to keep us safe. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics have highlighted some tips for how we can safely shop for groceries and what we should keep in our pantry. Some of these include limiting time in the grocery store and meal planning. For further information click here.

I graduated from MRU with a Physical Literacy degree in 2019. I was working part time at Vivo as the 4 in 1 Lead. The 4 in 1 program is a 7-year longitudinal research study comparing  the motor proficiencies of multi-sport children to children who participated in only one or two activities. While I was working I got accepted to U of C for the 2 year after-ed program in Secondary Physical Education. Before starting the semester I was unsure if I wanted to continue with schooling as I loved my job so much. About one month in I realized that becoming a teacher was not something I wanted to do. I finished out the semester, mostly because I was involved in many many group projects that I couldn’t leave hanging. As soon as I completed my semester I was offered a full time position at Vivo.

Now, I am the Camps and 4 in 1 Coordinator at Vivo. I am filling in a maternity leave position so this will not be a permanent position. My role consists of programming and coaching the 4 in 1 program. As well, I get the chance to program camps, interview and hire leads and instructors for summer camps, solidify partnerships to enhance the camps programs, and spend a ton of time budgeting. My day is mostly spent in front of a computer so I aim to do one active thing a day, and so far it’s working out.

My advice to HPED students: don’t be afraid to take the leap. If you are torn between two or more options as a career, follow your gut. I know that you know which route you really want to take. Mine was not an easy decision to drop out, I made a pros and cons list and spent about 2 weeks unsure of how to proceed. But over time by feelings were solidified. I hope that this also happens for you.
