Dr. J. H. F. (Hans) Schaeffer

Professor of Practical Theology at Theologische Universiteit Kampen (The Netherlands)

Dr. James' research on church planting in Seattle has inspired a similar project in Amersterdam, The Netherlands, and this week we were visited by one of the researchers involved in that project, Dr. J. H. F. (Hans) Schaeffer, Professor of Practical Theology at Theologische Universiteit Kampen. Dr. James took the opportunity to hear about his work on the potential of liturgy for congregational revitalization.

Spring Convocation, on February 6th, officially kicked off our observance of Black History Month with a worship service in Butler Hall, and a Celebration of the University of Dubuque and its wonderful diversity.  Many people may not know that, today, our University welcomes students, faculty, and staff members from 44 states and 27 countries.  Watch the video to see this Convocation celebration. It's a way for us to pause, give thanks to God for the gift of our community, and to begin the process of exploring ways to learn, grow, and understand cultures and traditions that may or may not be different than our own.
