Well, guys!

I need to start with a huge Thank You to everyone who kindly donated to Jenson's Driving Lesson Fund this Christmas.  As a certain well-known outlet says, "every little helps" and I'm extremely grateful for the funds received. Jenson is learning to drive with Wright Turn and Nick is, I believe one of the best driving instructors out there.  He's also a jolly nice chap and I highly recommend him if you've got anyone who needs to learn to drive (Tel: 07900 885596).

This will be the final email for 2021 - and what a year it's been.

We introduced the Centre Stage Thumbthing to the dog grooming world in January this year and have struggled to keep up with demand since its conception. We're now wholesaling to scissor manufacturers and I have to say, this has kept me rather busy running up to Christmas, hence the sad lack of emails.

Even though times have been a bit tricky, we've managed to attend all the physical dog grooming trade shows that were open and have five shows booked for 2022 already.

I've already done one day of filming for Wildwash and we have another one booked for Thursday this week which will cover all the shampoos, which ones work best for each coat type and how to bath your dog at home in between professional maintenance sessions.

We also have a fledgeling joint venture with GROOMEDIA and we are making the "bluescreens" required for their app to work. The Apple version of their app didn't come out on the 20th of December.  The first version was a bit laggy and buggy so I didn't get many dogs photographed for Christmas which was a shame.  It has, however, improved dramatically with the first update (of many I suspect) so I'll be putting your dogs into fabulous scenes post groom in the future.

Obviously - photography can only be done at the end of the groom.  Banging on the door 5 minutes early ends any opportunity to do this successfully and since it could be your dog on the table at that point I'd beg you kindly to refrain from doing so.  So that we're all singing from the same hymn sheet, Steve is installing a wall clock outside the front door so everyone will know when it is safe to ring the doorbell!

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a new strapline on the Weakly Rant Header.  It is my intention to drop down to 3 days a week of grooming from January 2023 so that I can continue to build the other business and create new and innovative products for the dog grooming world.  I might even be able to sneak in the occasional painting session without guilt which would be very nice.

This would be a good point to welcome the new clients who have joined recently and ask them to read the "notes for the newbies" by clicking here or on the regular link above. Here are a couple of points of revision for all in a nutshell:
  • Please plan and book your appointments a year ahead like the rest of the clients do.  It can't be astonishing to learn that your dog's hair grows and that your dog will need frequent haircuts.  If you already have an appointment in the diary that you need to change I can potentially shuffle it or swap it with another client, what I can't do is magic a new one out of nowhere.
  • I operate a very strict "three strikes and out" policy because every time someone who has not pre-paid fails to show up for an appointment, whatever the reason, I lose out financially. In the last 12 months, that figure amounted to £2,225. Given that the average groom fee here is £70, once I've lost £210 to a client because of their failure to notify me of an appointment cancellation in a timely manner, they will be asked to find a new groomer.  Obviously, those customers who have more than one dog won't get to 3 failed appointments before they're asked to move on.
  • Customers who pay via the VIP scheme are given priority appointments.
You'll also notice that we're currently having the front of the house worked on.  The fencing and carport was built by the lovely Grahame Clarke (07834 368511) and his team who I can highly recommend. I apologise if parking has been / will be a bit tricky while it is being completed but it will all be worthwhile when it's finished!  IF THERE IS SPACE ON THE DRIVE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE IT! It makes it easier for the bus to get through. 😉
Because we've been assured by the government that there will be no future lockdowns (😂😂😂😂😂), here's the latest covid update:
Although this letter from a Doctor to a Health Minister was written in Queensland, it is equally applicable here in the UK.

I am vaccine-free and plan to remain that way.  I understand that because of this, some clients may feel uncomfortable entering the salon to pay, in which case I can send a link where they can make an online payment prior to pick-up and we will do both handovers outside Hands-Free using the hook on the wall.
When entering the salon feel free to wear a mask if it makes you feel safer, but please do not assume that I will, or that you are obliged to do so, (which might influence your decision as to whether you wish to come inside or not).  If intending to use it, you'll need your own hand sanitiser as I don't want to be responsible for giving you anything that might do you harm

Despite my vaccine status and inability to wear a mask from the outset, I am astonishingly, still standing after two years and will continue to groom for you while that remains the case. Who knows, perhaps the Vit C, D and Zinc protocol I use is actually effective? Shoot me for being cynical, but it is perhaps interesting to note that all the covid "cures" that have been so rigorously debunked by our Government or MSM have no outstanding patents and are therefore profitless entities.

May I reassure you that dog grooming is deemed to be an essential service and I will therefore remain open in the case of any future lockdowns.

This one of the pics created in the new GROOMEDIA App.  Patch and I would like to wish you all a very lovely new year!
I thought it might be useful to put the whole month ahead so you can plan accordingly.  This is what January 2022 looks like (and yes, I know the 3rd is a Bank Holiday but I'm open regardless).
