Virtual classroom: Severine Von Tscharner Fleming of Smithereen Farm in Pembroke, Me. recently discussed using non-plastic aquaculture gear during a One Fish Foundation "visit" with Portland High School seniors.

We are thankful for your support!

Most of our classroom and community-building work is still confined to the online space because of the pandemic. But the energy and commitment of those engaged in these virtual, interactive conversations reinforces the One Fish Foundation mission. Many folks in all age groups aren't aware of how complex the global seafood supply chain is. But they sure take notice when they learn how much of what we eat collectively has serious environmental, socio-economic, and health implications. Spreading the word is one way to change the dynamic, reduce our environmental impact, and support local, community-based fisheries.

One Fish Foundation played a crucial role in producing Slow Fish 2021 Virtual Gathering, which united more than 200 people from around the world in March to celebrate community, transparent supply chains, responsibly harvested seafood, and the commitment to tackle global fisheries challenges.
Protecting wild habitat for fish and other organisms is a key message in One Fish Foundation classrooms and communities. For example, we have highlighted efforts to protect Bristol Bay, AK.,  home  of the world's largest wild sockeye salmon run, in classrooms, blogs, podcasts, newsletters, webinars, and other events. The administration is now working to establish Clean Water protections for Bristol Bay against the Pebble Mine.
