With Massachusetts in a Drought, Net Zero Water is Needed Now More Than Ever
In a time of increasingly prevalent droughts in the New England area, sites that prioritize net zero water systems are becoming critically needed. The R.W. Kern Center is an important example of net zero water done right and will serve as the focus of our first Deep Dive into Net Zero Water session on October 15th.
As the 17th certified living building on the planet, the R.W. Kern Center features a net-positive water system, meaning that 100% of the building's water is sourced, processed, and managed on site. Site director, Sara Draper, and project members and water system experts such as Chris Chamberland, Christopher Nielson, and Bruce Douglas, will all virtually zoom in to discuss the Center and how net-positive water systems can reverse the effects of climate change.

Deep Dive into Net Zero Water at the R.W. Kern Center will take place Thursday, October 15th, 2020 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM (EDT) through Zoom Web Conferencing |

Follow-up to the Healthy Air Guidelines Petition Submitted to WHO
A month has passed since the petition about the importance of indoor air was shared with the World Health Organization. Since then, increasing attention has been paid to the aerosol transmission of COVID-19. For example, New York State is asking for air filtration for retail establishments and enhanced ventilation in restaurants. The petition organizers have created a Google Sheet to compile similar articles and media about the relationship between building design and COVID-19 mitigation.
With World Green Building Week approaching (Sep 21-25), please share the communication piece that started it all with your networks.
