We are still looking for two parent representatives on our School Site Council. School Site Council (SSC) is an advisory team made up of staff and parents who provide input on and approval of our School Safety Plan and our Single Plan for Student Achievement, among other opportunities for input and steering of programs at North Davis. We meet five to seven times a year at 3:30 in our school library. This is a critical committee, and we need your help!
We are extending the deadline for applications. If this is something you might be interested in, please fill out the application by 3:00pm on Friday, September 28th by CLICKING HERE. Your personal statement will be published in our 10/1 NDE Newsletter, and parents will have the chance to vote for two candidates. The two candidates with the most votes will become School Site Council members.

Each week, for the next five weeks, I will describe a specific component of the Kids in Motion Fitness programming offered this school year. These include: Jump Rope Club, T/K and Kindergarten fitness, Primary fitness, Intermediate fitness (including fencing), and 6th grade cross-age mentoring (with 1st grade).
This week my focus is on Jump Rope Club.
In April, 2007 when the movie Jump In was released, our North Davis students went crazy for jump rope, especially Double Dutch! I decided to ride the wave and Jump Rope Club began on Wednesdays at lunch recess. Eleven years later, it is still going strong.
We continue to meet on Wednesdays at lunch recess. Students in 1st-6th grades can join me to learn jump rope skills. There is no sign up required to participate and students can stay for as little or as long as they like. During recess students work on individual rope skills, such as backward, criss-cross, and double unders, as well as partner jumping, such as rainbow and Chinese Wheel, and group jumping, such as Double Dutch. We have several new students each week, learning new to jumping skills!
It is just me this year and I NEED help/support to provide better instructional opportunities as well as for turning Double Dutch ropes. There is no experience needed!! I will teach you everything you need to know. Please consider whether you would enjoy this opportunity to support our students on Wednesdays 11:45-12:45.
Please contact me at email@example.com or stop by if you are on campus and want to assist. THANKS!
Ms Mindy Music Update
Just a reminder from Mindy that any intermediate student can attend Pops Choir during these first 2-3 weeks even if he/she has not yet submitted an enrollment form. Enrollment forms are due by the time we start vocal testing in October, but we are open to anyone that is interested!
Don’t forget to listen to the songs and bring back your suggestions and favorites list in the next week or so.
We’ll meet this week on Tuesday at noon and Friday after school from 3:05-4:00.
Student Support Services Annual Parent Forum
6:30 - 8:45 p.m.
Come and join us to view the film, Angst, on Wednesday, October 3 from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. in the Brunelle Theater at Davis Senior High School. Parents and students of all ages are welcome. The film reflects what we see in our young people. Anxiety is the precursor to so many mental health challenges. By opening a dialogue and normalizing (not trivializing) anxiety we can help each other and ourselves.
Following the film, we will hear from a panel of experts.
Don't Miss it!
