  • We have rescheduled Shannon Husk's presentation on internet safety and children's screen time for Tuesday, April 14th at 7pm.

Do you have an EMJS Smile Card for Thrifty Foods?
  • If yes, please use it when you shop at Thrifty's so we can raise money for equipment such as a new projector for the school gym. So far, we have only raised about $800 of our $2500 goal for the year.

  • If you don't have a Smile Card, you can pick one up in the office, email the PAC at exec@emjspac.ca, or order one via the hotlunches site (https://emjs.hotlunches.net/admin/) and it will be delivered with your child's hot lunch.

  • Your EMJS Thrifty Foods Smile Card can be loaded every time you shop and Thrifty Foods generously donates 5% of what you load on the card back to our school! Every little bit helps!
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
  • Thank you to those parents who helped with the luncheon last week. From the full array of food to the fabulous draw prizes for every staff member, the event was a huge success! Special thanks to Betty Greer who led the luncheon team this year, and also to Shari Roubini for her guidance after organizing the event for the last several years!
Hot lunches
  • If you missed the order deadline for our lunches, not to worry - you can still order for the remaining weeks. The deadline to make any changes to your March hot lunch order is this Wednesday, February 26th (https://emjs.hotlunches.net)

  • Grade 5 students and their families are invited to a family board game night on Thursday, April 9th in EMJS gym.

  • Free Admission (donations welcome). Refreshments available for purchaseAll proceeds will go toward the Grade 5 Recognition Tea in June and the Grade 5 Camp Thunderbird trip.

  • Grade 5 families please RSVP here: https://emjs.wufoo.com/forms/emjs-grade-5-games-night/
Want to see activities and programs continue next year?
  • Did you know that many enrichment opportunities for our children (like chess lessons, Science Venture, speakers, art supplies, field trip subsidies, special classroom projects) and community-building events (including Welcome BBQ, Fall Dance, Make Sale, Spring Fair) and much more are only possible because our school has had an active PAC Executive?

  • If you, or someone you know, might want to join the PAC Executive, please attend our PAC Annual General Meeting on April 23rd at 7pm. The PAC is a great way to meet other parents, stay informed on what is happening at EMJS and make a difference in your child's EMJS experience.

  • A number of our Exec members are leaving EMJS next year, so there are some spots we need to fill for the 2020/21 school year. In particular, we would welcome anyone who wants to do any of the following:
    • Coordinate hot lunches
    • Website administration
    • Treasurer
    • PAC Chair
    • Members at Large

  • More information on these positions is available here (short version) or here (long version). If you have any questions about these roles, please feel free to contact the current PAC Executive, and we would be happy to chat with you: exec@emjspac.ca
New Indigenous art in the library
  • As a retirement gift for Mrs. Langston, the school installed several beautiful light covers in the library (photos of 2 of them are below) by Namgis First Nations Artist, Jamin Zuroski.

What are some easy ways to help raise funds for the PAC?
You can let us know if you need an EMJS Thrifty Foods Smile Card or a Fairway Market Community Card on our https://emjs.hotlunches.net site where you order lunches, and we will order one for you and arrange to send it home with your child in a few weeks.
  • Your EMJS Thrifty Foods Smile Card can be loaded every time you shop and Thrifty Foods generously donates 5% of what you load on the card back to our school! We are fundraising for a gym projector that is high on the school's wishlist ($6000). Every little bit helps!
  • Load up your EMJS Fairway Market Community Card and use it at Fairway Markets the same way as the Smile Card.
  • When buying bread at Cobs Bread on Oak Bay Avenue, tell them you have a “Dough Raiser” account under the name “Margaret Jenkins”.
  • When buying shoes at Finn & Izzy on Oak Bay Avenue, tell them you would like to support Margaret Jenkins school.
  • Before your bottle returns are processed at any Return-It Bottle Depot location, let the attendant know you would like the payout to go to “École Margaret Jenkins PAC”
