Celebrating God's Goodness

All Cincinnati area Good News Clubs are finished for the year and we celebrated at the 2019 CEF Cincinnati Celebration May 16 at Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sharonville. Volunteers from every club came for lunch provided by the CEF committee along with fellowship and testimonials from club leaders, a favorite part of the event which encouraged everyone. The year ended with twice as many volunteers as last year and two new clubs. Praise the Lord for His goodness.
Local committee responsibility changes were announced where training will be conducted by both Betsy O'Kresik and Ruth Boyatt. Jim Silvashy, husband of our secretary, Sandy Silvashy, is the new treasurer. Future plans announced include the goal of 20 clubs in 2020 and we ask you to join us in prayer for this. A postcard direct mailing to Bible-believing churches has started to help get the word out. We no longer want to hear, "CEF is the best kept secret!"

Fairfield East launched, thanks to Missy Sackenheim

Persistence characterizes the launching of this Good News Club. Missy was familiar with clubs and knew about them for ten years. Her previous church was very involved and her daughter helped with one of their clubs.
Missy will tell you that Carolyn Horton, persistent woman #1, kept asking her about starting a club with her church. Missy, persistent woman #2, mentioned it to her pastor, Chad Grindstaff, a few times and it happened in January, 2019 after two CEF volunteers met with her pastor to further explain the ministry. Living Hope Presbyterian Church has a club in the school building where their church plant meets.
Missy's volunteer team includes her pastor and others from her church plus Mari Lou Banks. Mari Lou moved to the area from the Greenville, South Carolina area and is a vivacious and experienced CEF volunteer.
The club size was perfect for the team to be able to get to know the children well and see God at work in their lives. Especially encouraging was that the kids kept returning each week and had a genuine interest in learning about the Lord.

Missy Sackenheim lives in Hamilton and has been married to Phil for 25 years. They have two grown children and one granddaughter. She is a faithful servant of the Lord and  enjoys singing at her church and cooking. The Sackenheim family loves to practice hospitality and has people over to their home often, usually for food and fellowship.
