In case you missed it, after nearly five years of uncertainty and the possibility of being demolished, there's officially some news about the Astrodome to share! At the end of January the Texas Historical Commission approved the application for the Dome to become a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Days later, the Harris County Commissioners Court voted to approve a $105M renovation. The plan for renovation would raise the ground level two floors to fit 1,400 parking spaces and transform the dome into an event and convention space. It is anticipated that a third of the $105M will come from property taxes, another third from hotel taxes, with the final portion from parking revenue.
