With a vote of 12-7, the Reproductive Health Act (RHA) passed out of the House Appropriations-Human Services Committee last night and is headed to the Illinois House for a vote!
The Reproductive Health Act establishes the fundamental right to reproductive health and modernizes Illinois’ reproductive rights laws by repealing outdated and unconstitutional prohibitions on reproductive healthcare and enacting a new Illinois Reproductive Health Act that regulates abortion like any other form of health care.
Now the RHA has a chance to get voted on TODAY, Monday, May 27 in the Illinois House session that starts at 10:30am. We need to keep the pressure on and here’s how YOU can take action!
STEP 1: EMAIL YOUR REP. There is a template provided for you to send to your Rep. A personalized message is best, so feel free to add language or share your story.
STEP 2: CALL YOUR REP. With today being a holiday, there most likely won’t be anyone to answer the phone. But don’t let that stop you. Leave a voicemail. If the line is busy, keep calling! There's a phone message template on the RHA website.
STEP 3: TWEET YOUR REP. Social media is a great tool to make your voice heard and create awareness.

Reproductive health, birth control, abortion, and maternity care is healthcare, should be treated as healthcare, and should not be criminalized! It’s time to take outdated restrictions such as spousal consent, 24 hour waiting, and mandatory lectures off our books and give us our fundamental right to reproductive health care.
Thank you for being a part of securing reproductive rights in Illinois!
