📣 Calling all teens! 📣

Join us at the 6th annual Gender Equity for Teens (GET) Conference May 25 - 29.

This year's conference aims to virtually unite teens interested in gender equity from across the city and help students engage in discussions about intersectional feminism with hopes to help teens see the world through an intersectional feminist lens.

She Votes Illinois will be participating in the action fair Friday May 29th at 3pm to empower and educate teens to vote and to make an impact on the upcoming elections. 🗳️  🗳️ 🗳️

📣 Calling all reproductive justice warriors! 📣

The documentary, “AKA Jane Roe”, is a portrait of Norma McCorvey whose unwanted pregnancy led to Roe v. Wade, the 1973 case that legalized abortion nationwide. McCorvey stunned the world in 1995 when she switched sides to crusade against her own case, now claiming she was anti-abortion. Norma McCorvey died of heart failure on February 18, 2017, but in final interviews she makes a startling deathbed confession; her infamous reversal on abortion rights “was all an act” and she was paid by evangelical Christian groups to make the switch.

We know a lot of us are “shook” by this betrayal, so we are honored to have Heather Booth join us for a discussion on the ramifications of this disclosure. Ms. Booth is co-founder of the legendary Jane Collective or Jane, an underground abortion service in Chicago that operated from 1969 to 1973, when abortion was illegal in most of the U.S.

AKA Jane Roe premiered last night Friday, May 22 and is available today on FX on Hulu. Please watch and then join us on Tuesday, May 26 at 1:00pm with your questions!

The forum will be hosted on Zoom on May 26 at 1:00pm. Please RSVP here and you will be sent the Zoom link on the day of the event.
