PARTF Grant - We are pleased to announce that on Friday, August 25 the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Authority voted to approve the Town of Valdese's grant request for the acquisition of 302 acres for the Valdese Lakeside Park. However, the grants are not officially awarded until the recommendations are signed by the governor, usually by the end of September. Parks and Rec Director Doug Knight and FVR President Beth Heile attended the decision making meeting held in Raleigh. The other grant award needed is the Clean Water Management Trust Fund and it will be decided on September 13.

If you have not, pledge today and help us reach our goal of $150,000+. The more amenities that can be installed after closing on the land, the better and more enjoyable our park will be.

Summer Raffle Winners - The drawing took place on August 13 at 2pm during the Waldensian Festival. Winners: Steve Kiddy (gift card combo), Roy Sweezy (mountain bike), Gene Tucker (kayak). Thanks go to: Appalachian Mountain Sports for donating the mountain bike (value $350), Wal-Mart for donating the $75 gift card, Rural King for donating the $25 gift card and those who purchase a raffle ticket (or several) this summer. $1250 was raised.
Volunteer Opportunities: The town is going to be updating our parks this fall (things like signage, picnic tables, sand/mulch). As a part of this update, there will be plenty of chances to get involved with the remake. Just watch our facebook page for the specifics on when and where.
