Growing our Money for Amenities
With the Master Park Plan complete, we are ready to apply for grants for park amenities. Agencies are more likely to award grant money when there is a master plan provided with the application. If we are able to reach $200K in donations by January 31, 2019, this will be used as matching money to grow our pot to $800K via 2 state grants. See the details on all grant possibilities.

Info Box
 - Need a Map of the Valdese Lakeside Park Property? You can print your own and study step-by-step detailed pictures at Trails. Or, get a printed map from the boxes posted at each gate. The first gate is 0.7 mile along Lake Rhodhiss Dr and the second gate is at the grassy parking area.
A banner acknowledging donors has been placed at the last gate entrance of Valdese Lakeside Park. Thanks for your support.
Grass Cutting at VLP

Public Works has always cut the sewer easement (future greenway) once in the Spring and in the Fall. While that will continue, volunteers will work to keep paths clear during the summer months. We have an official FVR lawn mover and anyone is welcome to take a turn using it.

Freshwater Mussels

At Valdese Lakeside Park, at Meditation Point, the goose eggs have hatched and the family has moved on. Now, you can see these freshwater mussels... probably cracked by a goose or a raccoon. Or, a river otter??
