COVID-19 Updates for Howard County Businesses

Business News

Senate Passes New Small Business Relief Bill  
On Tuesday evening, the U.S. Senate reached an agreement for the fourth coronavirus relief package to aid small businesses and hospitals. Lawmakers are proposing to inject another $310 million into the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), $60 billion of which is allocated for PPP loans by small lenders and community banks. The bill would increase funding by $10 billion to Economic Injury Disaster Loan grants. The bill also includes $75 billion to reimburse hospitals for COVID-19 related expenses and $25 billion to expand coronavirus testing capacity. The bill will go to the House next for a vote.  

Howard County Nonprofits Grant Application Deadline is This Friday 
Nonprofit organizations in Howard County have until Friday, April 24, 2020  to apply for a second round of emergency grants offered by HoCoRespond in light of the new coronavirus pandemic. More than $200,000 worth of grants were awarded to 13 Howard County nonprofits in the first round. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Community Foundation of Howard County, Horizon Foundation, United Way of Central Maryland and Women's Giving Circle of Howard County and together they have set a goal of raising $200,000 in five days for the next round. CAMI Connecting Laid-off Workers with Openings 
The Cybersecurity Association of Maryland Inc. (CAMI) is setting up an accelerated connection service to bring together employees who have been laid off and companies with open positions. Does your company have open positions or want to help those who have been forced to lay off find new work? Click here for job positing information or to forward resumes of individuals who have been laid off/furloughed as a result of COVID-19 and CAMI will connect them to CAMI members with open positions. 

County Launches HoCo Donation Collection Map
County Executive Ball recently announced the launch of HoCo Donation Collection, an online tool for residents to find locations to drop-off product donations including groceries, toiletries, and cleaning products. To see which of the 12 donation centers is nearest to you, click here.
