Church Uses Seedling Bouquets
as Creative Valentine's Gifts

This Valentine's Day, members of Ambler Mennonite Church in Ambler, Pennsylvania surprised their loved ones with a "green" Valentine's Day Care Package. Inside, recipients received a "bouquet of trees," in which one dozen tree seedlings were donated for planting in their honor. The congregation is doing this as a way of supporting JoinTrees, Mennonite Men's campaign to plant one million trees by 2030. In total they'll give 46 bouquets, for a total of 552 trees.

New Resources for Peaceful at Heart

As many of you know, this fall we published a study guide for the book Peaceful at HeartAnabaptist Reflections on Healthy Masculinity. Written by Dan Epp-Tiessen, Associate Professor of Bible at Canadian Mennonite University, this study guide is a great resource to facilitate much-needed conversations about masculinity, church, and our Christian faith. Download the free study guide here.

But we aren't stopping there! Mennonite Men partnered with Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, Mennonite Church Canada, Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, and Be in Christ Canada to publish the study guide, and we are partnering with them to put together a video series with interviews with the book's contributors. The plan is to complete the series by spring of this year.

If you haven't bought a copy of Peaceful at Heart yet, copies are still available in print and Kindle formats. The book provides a uniquely Anabaptist voice to resource our discussions of healthy masculinity, whether individually or collectively in a book study group.

Seeking Grant Applications for New Churches

In 2020 Mennonite Men gave a total of $170,000 to five new congregations through JoinHands, our program to provide grants to help new congregations acquire their first church building. Even with the challenges of the pandemic, through the generosity of our donors, we worked with a variety of racial-ethnic congregations serving our African, Chin, Haitian and Hispanic sisters and brothers.

In 2021 we are hoping to continue the generosity of last year. Do you know of a congregation that is part of Mennonite Church Canada or Mennonite Church USA that is 10 years old or less and is seeking to acquire its own building? If so, please encourage them to apply. You can find out more information about JoinHands by clicking here.
