Patient Safety & Phone Banking
Dear <<First Name>>,
As we've mentioned before, our Kickstarter campaign is underway and should launch in a month or so. It's super exciting! We're talking to big supplement brands and others to help us offer rewards. As we're working hard to prepare for this campaign, I've also been working on a patient safety certificate. This is a short course on patient safety and protocol in an attempt to eliminate ADRs (adverse drug reactions) and other hazards within the medical community. It's a great step towards creating educational campaigns and better protocols with 'Floxed' once the movie launches.
With my studies (and also in creating a looooong list of resources for you guys which we will give out during the campaign period), I've come across this incredible tool. I'm familiar with using the Epocrates app to find a list of warnings for different drugs (especially fluoroquinolones, and especially black box warnings), but this new tool (it's not new, but it's new to me) shows the numbers of reported drug reactions along with the exact side effects reported. It's CRAZY.
For example, I looked up 'Cipro' and found 171,031 reported ADRs with skin, musculoskeletal, and gastrointestinal problems as some of the most commonly reported reactions. Remember, this doesn't include any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic, like Levaquin or Avelox, so the numbers of floxies is much higher than what I mention below. It also only includes reported side effects from 1985 on.
The highest numbers of reported floxies are more recent, with a super high jump around 2014 and the numbers reached 10,000+ new floxies in 2016, the year I was floxed. It already shows data for 2020, even though it's only part of the way through February. There are 1,671 new floxies just from Cipro alone this year.
I hate this. I hate it so much. I want to scream NO NEW FLOXIES from the rooftops. 1,671 people were hurt by Cipro in less than 2 months alone. We need to work hard to slow down these rates and hopefully, stop them completely.
For our Kickstarter campaign, a lot of you have reached out asking how you can help since our last newsletter. Thank you so much. It is this massive group of floxie activists, our friends, our family, and others who are dedicated to helping spread the word about Fluoroquinolone Toxicity. We literally can't do this without you guys.
We've come up with a way to get everyone involved that's been inspired by some canvassing and phone banking efforts. Claire and I are going to run a live online workshop before the campaign begins to train anyone interested on how to phone bank. Phone banking is essentially calling friends and family to tell them about our movement and ask them to help with our campaign.
If you want to help us phone bank, please fill out THIS FORM with your information.

Have a great weekend and remember, no new floxies!
