Dear <<First Name>>,
As you know, SVP Portland has been deeply engaged with the Preschool for All (P4A) initiative for the past several years, working to ensure every 3- and 4-year-old in Multnomah County has access to high-quality preschool. Preschool For All was developed with preschool providers and parents of color, and is the only local plan for high-quality and tuition-free preschool that prioritizes our community’s Black and Brown children, families, and providers.
Recently, we asked for your input around SVP Portland’s endorsement of the anticipated Preschool for All ballot measure, and we write to share the results. We appreciate so many of you taking the time to complete the survey.
The feedback we received was loud and clear -- 77% of responding Partners are in favor of our organization endorsing this anticipated ballot measure! Reinforced by this overwhelming support, our Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse a Preschool for All ballot measure, if referred, extending our long-standing commitment to ensuring access to preschool. This decision will not affect our 501(c)(3) status, nor will it change our primary role as a capacity builder in the community.
We recognize that there are still outstanding questions, specifically around the funding mechanism. We invite you to join us for further discussion on July 13th, when we will share updated information around the policy, tax mechanism, and community-wide polling results. If you have questions or want to get more involved, feel free to contact me at email@example.com, or Board Chair Kerry McClenahan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to make Preschool for All a reality for Multnomah County’s children.
