From the District Superintendent

Rev. Grandon-MayerDear Rockford District's friends,

Can you believe it? Easter is only a few days away! We are nearing the time of the year when we celebrate that great and powerful event… Easter! At Easter, the church proclaims, “Christ is risen. He is truly risen.”

Jesus, through his cross and resurrection, has destroyed the power of sin and death and brought us into life. Easter is so much more than flowers, cards, Easter eggs, candy, family gatherings and even beautiful music. It is the historical event that gives ultimate meaning and purpose to our lives.

A year ago, we celebrated Easter differently, not knowing what the next months would look like. We have witnessed that, despite the uncertainty of the pandemic and the challenges in our lives, Jesus has shown us his love, power and faithfulness in ways that we never thought or imagined. Jesus Lives!!

The fact that Jesus is risen, that he was victorious over death and sin, is the reason to celebrate. We are called to share that Good News with joy, hope and confidence that God's marvelous saving action through Christ's resurrection has won the victory over death.

Let's celebrate and sing together today and always, “God sent His son, they called Him Jesus. He came to love, heal and forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives.”

Because He Lives!!

Laity Zoom Gatherings Scheduled

Over the next few months, our Rockford District Lay Leaders ~ Melissa Ramirez and Scott Stich ~ will host Zoom gatherings with Lay Leaders and others from our local churches. The invitation will be emailed to the Lay Leader of each church, who will, in turn, invite one other key leader from their church to join in.

As with the Clergy Zoom Gatherings, this will be a time for building relationships and strengthening communication between the laity as they share and listen to the joys and struggles they find in their local contexts.

These gatherings will be held by Cluster areas.
  • Jo Daviess Cluster & Zion Cluster - Thursday, April 8 at 7:00 pm
  • Stephenson Cluster & Winnebago Cluster – Thursday, April 22 at 7:00 pm
  • Rockford Cluster – Thursday, May 13 at 7:00 pm
  • East Cluster & South Cluster – Thursday, June 10 at 7:00 pm
More information will be sent out soon.
