Chromebook Returns (Today and Tomorrow at SCS!!!)
Families should have received our email giving them the opportunity to choose whether or not they keep their student's Chrome book over the summer. Those forms should be completed and sent back to Patty ASAP.
SCS Chromebook returns are scheduled for today and tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 - 3:00. Families will be able to return their device(s) on the School St. side of the building without needing to enter the building.
Students who never took their device home, and wish to have it remain at SCS (or have it forwarded to CVU) for the next school year may do so by taking no additional action.
5th - 8th Grade Cubby Cleanout (June 22nd and 23rd - Sign Up)
We know that some 5th-8th grade families still need to access team spaces and clean out cubbies. This week, many teachers and staff members will be accessing the building to wrap up the year and we do not want to invite additional people into the building, unnecessarily.
So, we have two full days where families can sign up to gather up student materials. The signups can be found by using this link. Use the tabs on the bottom of the sheet to move between the sign up for June 22nd (Monday) and the one for June 23rd (Tuesday).
Mr. Sivo will send out clearer instructions to families who sign up before next week.
Ready to return your books?
We will have outdoor collection bins/boxes/carts located at the Gym door entrance for any SCS library books you are ready to return on the following dates and times.
It's fine to hang onto school library books through the summer if you prefer.
You will receive an email from Fiona (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the list of books you have checked out. Or, you can view your own check out history by logging in to your Destiny account.
Book return dates and times:
Monday, Tuesday Wednesday 6/15-6/17 10 am - 2:00 pm
SCS Band for Beginners
Our 19-20 yearbooks are currently being produced and we have an initial delivery date of June 24th. This is due to delays sparked by the public health crisis. We will build a plan around yearbook distribution once we have the physical product in our hands. We appreciate your patience.
Summer School and Extended School Year
CVSD leaders and teachers have been meeting for the last two weeks to determine the shape and format of our summer offerings. It is unlikely that summer school and ESY services will look identical to recent summers. But, the group is doing everything they can, under an extreme time crunch, to offer up a summer program that will meet the diverse needs of our students. More information will be coming out from either SCS or CVSD as decisions are made.
CVU Camp for Current 8th Graders
CVU Summer Camp Director, Rick Kinsman has put out the following information about their annual camp for our current 8th-grade students:
I wanted to reach out and say that we are excited to be able to host CVU summer camp this summer. In line with the Governor's guidelines, we will only be offering camp for Session A which are July 6th-9th and July 13th-16th from 8:30a-1:30p. Camp will look different this summer but are excited about the opportunity to safely welcome your students to CVU. Here are the things we are following in line with the state guidelines: doing health screenings every morning, all campers and staff will be required to wear masks and have spaces where they can have a break if needed, camp groups will be consistent throughout the camp and group numbers will be limited. We will encourage hand washing throughout the camp. Our activities will be tailored to limit contact but our connections between students will be the same and allow them to interact with each other and get to know each other and the school. Most of the activities will be held outside unless there is severe weather.
We appreciate your support in facing this journey through the unknown but with the kindness and resilience of our student counselors and staff we know that this will be a breath of fresh air in the path to our new norms. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Have a great weekend and Graduation Week!
More information on registration and scholarships can be found on our website at cvusummercamp.cvuhs.org
Vermont Daycare and Summer Camp Guidelines we will be following:
CVSD Enrichment Site Available for the Summer
The CVSD Enrichment site was developed for April vacation week but has been updated since then. It is filled with ideas and opportunities to engage in somewhat educational, but always fun activities. We will continue to add more ideas in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it will provide some additional enjoyment over the summer. The link can also be found on the COVID Information page of the CVSD website.
ELL Summer Camp Update
We are writing this message to bring you some unfortunate news. We will not be running ELL Summer Camp this summer.
We are extremely saddened by this change in summer plans. We will miss the students, the field trips, the fun, and the shared learning. We will be back next year, better than ever! We can't wait!
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time! Enjoy your summers!
