It has not been our custom to distribute a weekly newsletter during school breaks and vacations, but there is very little that is customary about our current situation...so here we go!
With all light-heartedness aside, we have been working hard to assure that our families have the resources they need throughout this difficult period of school closure. We have begun to use this newsletter as a place to gather those resources. It is so easy to lose track of the multiple communications with embedded links when they come at us through multiple emails. So, we have really tried to consolidate the most important info that has come out from our school, our district, and other community partners recently. We hope that this consolidation will be helpful during the April break and during the rest of the school year. As more resources are created and distributed, we will add to this collection.
We understand that this school break means different things to different families. None of our work or home situations are identical at this unpredictable and difficult time. For some, you will be working hard to maintain the useful structures you have built into your student's day over the past five weeks. For others, this will be a time to shake things up, get outside, and shut off the screens. No matter how you view it, we hope that this is a time where all of you stay healthy and stay together.
The school will be back up and running soon. Updates to the Remote Learning Site will be in place by Monday morning (April 27th), as teachers will resume reaching out to students and meeting/class schedules will recommence.
Have a wonderful week!

Yearbook Info from Mrs. Nakhleh: Order Deadline Extended
The deadline for ordering yearbooks was March 31st. The company shut down the on-line orders early so people were unable to order the yearbook online recently. I have contacted the company and they have reopened the link and you should now be able to order yearbooks online from 3/31 until 4/20. I extended the original due date, If you would rather not order it on-line, please email me to let me know so I can put your order in and then you can mail a check to the school. Please make the check out to Shelburne Community School and put "yearbook" on the memo line.

For families with students currently in grades K, 2, 4, & 6, our registrar will be sending out our annual Parent/Guardian Input form to help us with our student placement process. Please keep a look-out in your email (and spam) starting on Monday, April 27th from Informed K-12, where you'll receive an online form to complete by Sunday, May 3rd. Please note, Placement forms submitted after May 3rd will not be included in the placement process. Our placement teams will begin this work throughout the month of May and students/families will hear about final placement plans on 'Step-Up Day'. Please keep in mind that these forms will be shared with current teaching teams to help us with the placement process.
SCS Staff Shout Out
Our professional community used to use this form internally to celebrate one another's successes and strengths and show appreciation for one another.
Since we are now all working remotely, we've created a digital version and we're opening this up for students and families to share their appreciation for the hard-working teachers and school community members as well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to spread positivity!
