Migration and resilience in urban Canada-Immigration et résilience en milieu urbain

Hi Everyone,
During this endless winter, it is a relief to note the exciting activities of the partnership. There will be two sessions about the partnership’s research at the National Metropolis Conference in Halifax on Friday, March 22 . Thanks to Luisa Veronis and Nancy Mandell who submitted a proposal to the International Metropolis Conference for a session highlighting the partnership’s activities. I hope to see everyone at the next partnership meeting in Kitchener-Waterloo from April 10 to April 12, 2019. We are very fortunate that the International Migration Research Centre is sponsoring Dr. Marie Percot from the French National Centre for Scientific Research as a keynote speaker. Watch for more news soon. We appreciate your help publicizing the event. Please look at the wonderful report about Vivons nos quartiers discussed below.

Our colleague and co-investigator, Chedly Belkhodja is currently on leave. I know everyone joins me in wishing him a speedy return. In his absence, please contact the Secretariat with any questions about the Montreal network,bmrcirmu@yorku.ca .

Many of you will be hearing from the Secretariat soon. We are contacting partner organizations for the annual contributions report. Each co-investigator will soon receive a request for a project update modelled on the brief reports sent for the December meeting. As always, everyone at the Secretariat appreciates your help with these requests

Cheers
Valerie

Le rapport de recherche Vivons nos quartiers
We are pleased to announce the publication of the Phase I Vivons Nos Quartiers project's research report.

As a reminder, the Vivons Nos Quartiers research project is built on a collaboration between the TCRI(Table de concertation des organismes au service des personnes réfugiées et immigrantes) and researchers from Concordia University.

For more information on what the project entails, kindly refer to these video introductions by the team members:

Stephan Reichhold explains "Vivons nos quartiers"

Chedly Belkhodja explains what motivates him to collaborate in the "Vivons nos quartiers" project

The newly published report is available here(French version only).

Partnership News-Nouvelles du partenariat

Steering Committee News
At its last meeting, the Steering Committee reviewed the agenda for the partnership meeting. The first day will consist of a series of public panels, roundtables, and speakers and the second day will bring together members of the partnership to discuss the comments on the Midterm Report among other topics. The committee also expressed its support for identifying social media contacts at our partner organizations. Finally, there was a lengthy discussion of how the partnership should be represented at the International Metropolis Conference in Ottawa in June because of the high registration costs that average approximately $1,000 per person. Please send requests for travel money by March 14, 2018 using the form available here to learn more about it. Contact Camila at bmrcirmu@yorku.ca . if you have questions or concerns.

Knowledge Mobilization News
The KM committee is currently working on a process to develop infographics for the partnership. We are piloting the process with the most recent city profile report. The new infographic will be published soon.

The KM officer is also working on redesigning the project's website. Some new dynamic functions will be available for the research project web pages to help research teams present their projects more effectively online. More information about this will be shared in the next newsletter.
